Buyer received item Aug 1 and has had it all this time. Today I receive a return request, saying "Ordered By Mistake"., which they could have said that day or sometime that week at least. I do not offer returns unless I messed up or sent the wrong thing. eBay gives me lots of options, Accept, Refund in Full, Partial Refund, Contact the Buyer, and Decline. They also say I don't have to accept it, and really I don't want to. Are there any other things I should worry about before declining?

I would accept the return. As long as the item is returned undamaged and in the same condition you can relist it.
It looks like the buyer probably "borrowed" the item and right before the time expired where they would not have been able to return it they want to return the item. Considering Ebay's return policy you might be better off accepting the return and moving on.
And I would block that buyer from being able to buy/bid on any further items I list for sale.

That's true but some people can be petty and want to get even. Is it worth it when you have taken a lot of time to achieve a great fb score or in the process of trying to build up your fb score?

With Ebay, as a seller there is really no such thing seller protection. Yes, ebay will likely back you up with the decline as you have a no return policy. Order by mistake is categorized as buyers remorse. Hopefully the buyer does not move forward after the denied return. The only issue is that Ebay will likely deny the return but then buyer can file case for refund through paypal. If the buyer decides to ship back item with proof of return shipment paypal will sometimes reverse charges to your account. cccentral

I would never but that is up to you.
Unless they paid through MP the buyer gets a second bite of the apple through paypal but they are on the hook for return shipping unless you win in the resolution center somehow.

If someone asks to return something ( i.e a remorse return) I really don't have a problem accepting a return. I want my item back in the same condition in which I shipped it. The main issue I have with returns is when you are selling fragile ceramics that the buyer won't pack them carefully as I did for them. They are going to be very disappointed that they can't get a refund when it arrives back broken. I have been purchasing ceramics since the early 1980's, and the breakage rate has been extremely high up to 40%. I wouldn't want eBay issuing my return label because they won't purchase insurance for items over $100. Which is also the reason why I have only have a few listings that are valued over $100. For the most part people who buy antique collectibles don't do returns as it's really a niche market.
