Should I contact a 'closed case' customer after they've been given a gift from ebay?

Customer returned item- now unsellable condition and I gave 50% back. They opened case and were awarded the other 50%. The reason I gave 50%- it was now used, now opened, and now ruined, and I included 2 pictures- 1 of the item and 1 of the instructions where it states to  'check fitment before removing factory coating! (he did).  Also replaced attachment materials with inferior products.

So, per the 50% return and my subsequent 'reporting the buyer' with the 'used, opened, ruined' item;  the buyer would NOT see my comments or my pictures according to ebay.

So, I would like him to know why I only gave him the 50%, which then forced him to 'open a case' and send him a message informing him

- good idea, bad idea? What do you think?

A buyer absolutely can see the seller's excuse when deducting a partial refund.

Do you see the excuse that your buyer fired back when they escalated their case on you to get the remainder of their refund?

A blue recently wrote that a seller can always refund a partial amount, but the difference is eBay protects feedback, etc. if higher than a **bleep** seller or ASSeller that offers 30 or longer days return, or has free returns.
