Should I add signature confirmation?

Hello,

I am currently selling a few items that valued for a fair amount of money (over $300). I always ship with a tracking number but do I need to add signature confirmation as well to protect myself or is the tracking number sufficient enough?

You only need signature confirmation if the total cost is $750 or more

Re: Should I add signature confirmation?

I wouldn’t add it until it is required by policy for seller protection (750+ dollars).

This is because signature confirmation adds another step to the delivery process. This step can be a burden on some buyers... especially if you have no prior agreement with them to add this step.

If the buyer isn’t home to sign for it, the package goes back to the PO and a notice is left at the buyers house to either claim it at the PO or be home at a certain time to sign for it. For many buyers, it is difficult to comply and the package will ultimately get sent back to the seller only to create more issues, communication, and delivery delay. For instance, it would total annoy me if all of the packages I get in the mail need to be signed for. I get like 2-3 a day and I’m never home to accept them.

Sometimes buyers need these items “urgently”, and these possible delays can really upset a buyer... even if it’s one extra day. So do both of you a favor and don’t get signature confirmation unless it’s over $750.

If you are that worried about package getting lost... there are many package insurance services out there. I would rarely do either, but if I had to choose one, it’d probably be insurance.
