Shipping to a US APO address CUSTOMS FORM?

I have a small 3 oz. package going to a US APO address. When I went to print the label, it says a CUSTOMS form had to be completed, which I did. Seems odd a CUSTOM form is needed for a US address. Anyone know if this is correct procedure? Or something wrong with eBay labels?

Any help would be appreciated!

Some APO's are in foreign countries.  Customs form would be needed even though it is unlikely that the item willl be out of US hands.

Yes that is common practice. The buyer is most likely not stationed in the US. It goes to their shipping stations and then gets forwarded to the country they are stationed in. There it still has to go through customs. I shipped a cookie jar and it went to Germany.  Took some unusual hops along the way but arrived safely.

Do you know what an APO address is?

Maybe I am not clear on it. It would be more helpful if you would explain instead of just asking!

Ignoring some posters is sometimes a better choice than responding to bait.

Yes, I am going to follow your advice and ignore this unhelpful poster.

This is my first APO address to ship to, so was uncertain. Thank you for all your helpful information. Much appreciated!

Army Post Office, Sam.  FPO stands for Fleet Post Office.

Re: Shipping to a US APO address CUSTOMS FORM?

Some APO's require a customs form, some do not.

It is mainly to keep certain items out of the country (example: you can't ship canned ham to Iraq). Wherever you do send a package to a APO, FPO or DPO (diplomatic post office) know that that countries customs office can not open them only the military post office can, and if they do it is only to check for contraband. So go ahead and list the items correctly. I do suggest a vague list (example: list wristwatch not Rolex).
