Shipping to US only

I am selling an item that is prohibited to be shipped outside of the US because of ITAR regulations. In my listing, do I just completely ignore the whole international section or do I manually exclude all other countries? In its current state, I have elected to do the latter just to be safe.

Re: Shipping to US only

Yes, make sure no international shipping is selected, and add the entire world to your "Exclude Shipping Locations" exclusion list. Probably want to exclude APO/FPO and Protectorates too to be safe (but leave Alaska/Hawaii as the only allowed out of the entire lot)

Excellent point as military bases overseas are also under the ITAR prohibitions. Intuitively, you would think that a military item could be shipped to a military base but that is not the case since it is on foreign soil.

Re: Shipping to US only

you can also block foreigh buyers, aka buyers who register non USA country with Ebay,as these guys could be using a US freight forwarder,

Re: Shipping to US only

You should actually set up your buyer requirements so that your listings are always only available to people with addresses in the countries that you ship to. For example, right now I could purchase the watch band from you even though I am in Canada and you don't ship to Canada. ( I realize that isn't the listing that you were referring to)  I wouldn't be able to pay but I would be able to click on buy it now and commit to buy.    To prevent that, go to account - site preferences - buyer requirements, check off "block buyers with primary shipping address in a country that I don't ship to".  At the bottom of the page click on apply to current and future listings.

Once you set that up, if your listing shows only shipping to the US, people with a shipping address in another country won't be able to buy your items. Then it isn't necessary to use that exclusion list at all.  The exclusion list by itself also works but imo the block that I described is good to have for all listings.

Great advice, thank you.
