Hey everyone,
I placed a bid overnight and woke up having won. Hooray! Naturally I went to Pay Now to fix it all up. However when I went to my bank I noticed the number was higher than I expected. Sure enough checking the listing I can see that the shipping price on the listing as it was when I won and what is showing on my purchases page is about 10 dollars different.
I'm pretty sure this is not allowed but I also don't want to start a fight and have the seller withhold my item. What's the best approach here?

It's not possible for the seller to change the shipping terms on a listing that has ended, or even on a listing that has received a bid.
Are you sure that the postage in both cases is being calculated based on the same pair of ZIP Codes? Sometimes a listing will offer more than one shipping method; are you comparing prices for the same shipping service? It would be helpful if you'd provide the listing number, and both of the shipping prices that youre' seeing.

Thanks for the reply. I would not rule out a misunderstanding on my part. I have attached photos. Both screencaps from the ebay app. One from the "purchases" section and one from when you view the page of the item itself. The item number is 142918668365. If this is a mistake on my part it'd be a bit of a relief as I don't really want drama haha.

The listing is in UK Pounds Sterling (£)
and you paid in in Australian Dollars (AU$)
So some of it is likely currency conversion at the time of payment.
But ... since you are in Oz ... The rest of it is probably 10% GST ... eBay began collecting GST automatically for buyers in Australia when the law went into effect earlier this year.

Hmm I'm not convinced the exchange rate is related as those are converted as you can see in the image. Looking at some receipts it looks like the postage was charged at 18 pounds rather than 12. It could be export tax mentioned earlier but I'm not too sure. It isn't flagged that way anywhere if that's the case. GST seems to have been charged seperately.
