Shipping policy from eBay

eBay allows UPS and Fed Ex to use our funds as their personal piggybank.I measure and weigh items exactly correct and then round up,First time Fedex cried to eBay about shipping mistake  and they were allowed access to my funds and took over 20$.So I stopped using them. Now UPS is doing the same thing, they cry to eBay and without any notice eBay takes my money. If anyone wasn't paying attention I MEASURE AND WEIGH ITEM ABSOLUTELY CORECT AND ROUND UP. This is an obvious scam that eBay is allowing.

Re: Shameful policy from eBay

I also got a **bleep** $20 charge for an item under a lb. at UPS. They don't give any explanation other than additional handling. I went around and around with customer service until they agreed to file a dispute that could take months. Ebay does not care if we are cheated because they don't even require a reason for the overcharge. I have seen a bunch about UPS and Fedex's shady charges in Ebay forums. I guess the answer is to not use these carriers or buy the label without giving them access to your accounts. I just will not offer shipping through them anymore.

OK we got one piece of the info @mlmas06 , but not the other piece. I asked for a physical description of the package, and also asked whether or not you used a round tube.

Based on the limited info thus far, this looks like an "additional handling" surcharge for non-standard packaging. Best guess looking at your listings is maybe you used a round tube.

Charge is likely legit, per my very first post to this discussion with a link to the UPS website along with info about how eBay's shipping calculator works.

Which item @breathebrat and can you provide a physical description of the packaging? Also, was there any noted adjustment by UPS to the dimensions of the package?

Re: Shameful policy from eBay

it was a round tube. its a 6 inch diameter tube that's 38 inches long so I list it as 6x6x38

OK that's exactly what I suspected. It's a legit charge so there's nothing to dispute. As I said in my first reply:

There are many surcharges with UPS and FedEx that are not factored in until the carrier physically reviews the package as eBay's shipping calculator does not currently have a way to factor in non-standard packaging. eBay makes it clear on the label purchase page that UPS and FedEx rates are just estimates.

Read more in the UPS Guide - start on page 126:

https://www.ups.com/assets/resources/webcontent/en_US/retail_rates.pdf

You can find guides for all carriers on eBay Seller Center under "preventing shipping label price adjustments."

Re: Shameful policy from eBay

Something is not right with the calculator price. A 38" long tube will cost more that $7.08 to ship. I ship 30" tubes through USPS and they have gone up to $16 for just 2 states away now. They increased the prices for anything over 22" which puts them in like with UPS and FedEx....it used to be much cheaper to send these through USPS but not any longer with the increase a couple years ago. $30 seems high still though so maybe they charge a "fee" for having to re-bill it....who knows. Ebay can never tell you the reason for a cost adjustments. And "dimensional" weight is a myth since we enter the dimensions and weight in to THEIR calculator.

Re: Shameful policy from eBay

Thanks for your help it. feels a little better knowing it wasn't a scam, maybe the message from eBay should include more of an explanation . Anyway thanks again.

Re: Shameful policy from eBay

You can place your round tubes inside rectangular boxes to avoid that surcharge go-forward @mlmas06 , or you can use USPS since they don't currently apply a surcharge for round tubes.

Re: Shameful policy from eBay

We are in total agreements, 1000% twice UPS and FedEx had deducted our account over $600 after the deductions. Our account is drawn into a negative if you don’t have cash on hand to pay that it gets charged to your credit card so now We owe the credit card company $200 for something that these monopolized agents of thievery felt they had the right to do to hard-working People it is sadly one of the worst cases of gross negligence that We have ever experienced so even if we do get our money back two months down the road it’s already spent on a credit card bill that accumulated out of greed. It’s a shameful. Shameful Ponzi scheme that is being allowed to take place enough is enough

You have to use normal standard  shipping box's  not  none standard shipping  type   like tubs  or  anything  that is  unusual  packaging  dim  size  issue  for surcharge fee's  to come into play  with FedEx and UPS.
