Shipping location different from posting

I’m completely frustrated by eBay sellers not being in the actual area they are claiming they are. I just purchased something from a seller claiming to be a US seller located in Pampa, Texas. However my item was shipped from Los Angeles with a USPS tracking number. Tracking information states the following:

April 26, 2021, 3:08 pm
Departed Shipping Partner Facility, USPS Awaiting Item
LOS ANGELES, CA 90045
Shipping Partner:  BFE CORPORATION LIMITED
Your item departed a shipping partner facility at 3:08 pm on April 26, 2021 in LOS ANGELES, CA 90045. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date.

That shipping partner is a Chinese company.

I think from now on I am going to leave negative feedback on seller just for the fraudulent posting, whether or not my item is correct or not. I’m **bleep** tired of these people getting away with this, especially since I choose to only purchase from supposed “US Sellers”.  If everyone starts to do this as well, maybe we will all be able weed out all the bad apples. I do feel that eBay needs to figure out a away to filter these liars out.

Just had the same exact thing happen to me. What was your outcome?

Re: Shipping location different from posting

The "US only" item location filter selects items that are listed as being in the United States; however, as you may have seen, not every seller that lists items in the US ships from the US as they should. You can report such sellers for item location misrepresentation, but until eBay actually cracks down, your best course of action is to avoid such sellers entirely.

Before ordering you should check the estimated delivery dates -- that is usually a good indication of how far away items actually ship from. Also, going to a seller's profile page or feedback page will tell you where the seller's account was registered. If a seller is registered overseas, that raises the likelihood of an item shipping from outside the US, particularly for multiple quantity commodity items. Checking seller feedback will often reveal if there are problems with long shipping times, canceled orders or other supply chain warning signs.

When faced with a long list of search results that you want to narrow down to sellers that can ship quickly, using the "Guaranteed Delivery" filter will often help; very few sellers that ship from overseas qualify. That is a rough filter, though -- many domestic sellers may be filtered out as well.

eBay seems to have changed some of the search defaults, and "Guaranteed Delivery" options may not always appear when searching. You may be able to edit your search URL and change the ebay.com/sch/ to ebay.com/dsc/ and then you should see the Guaranteed Delivery options when you load the page.

Same here.  I purchased from a vendor that listed Walton, Kentucky, US, and the item was listed as in stock with 7 items.

The shipping was initiated in Ontario, Canada.

So not only was my package NOT between Kentucky and Texas, I was charged taxes for Kentucky for a foreign shipment.  That shipment should have been 3 days according to UPS.

Re: Shipping location different from posting

Just figured out the same thing is happening to me!  seller supposedly located and shipping out of New Jersey.  When I did a usps trace on the item it is has arrived in Los Angeles, CA, I'm in Colorado and the reason I bought from this place was because it was being shipped from within the US! When I checked this seller  it says they are a china based company!  I've had numerous problems purchasing items from china in the past and am trying desperately hard to get my stuff from the US only...  Additionally, when I checked the tracking number using USPS tracking service, it says the shipping partner is: BFE Corporation Limited!  Did a search on them over the internet and the first list that pops up on them  is they are a Scam organization based out of CHINA!

Re: Shipping location different from posting

generally speaking, whenever you buy *anything* online, [since the feds cracked down on internet sellers,  and not just on eBay, either,] the tax you pay is dependent upon the shipping destination, not the item's origin.
