Shipping labels not printing correctly

I am having some problems printing ebay shipping labels. I've been selling and printing labels through ebay for about 10 years and I have not seen this problem before.

For many years I just used a basic ink jet printer to print my labels, but about 2 years ago I purchased a Brother QL-710W wireless label printer. It works great. Sometimes I have to print off an order detail, which means I have to switch to my ink jet printer, but that's been no problem either, until now.

For some reason, when using Chrome or Firefox, when I swich over to the inkjet printer, the format is messed up and it prints out the wrong size. Then going back to the label maker printer, it's now messed up as well. In firefox, after I use it to print a label through the brother label maker, it wants to format any other print page to something that looks like a label (elongated,  partial-page).  In chrome, it turns the page into a really small format and puts it into the upper left hand corner in the preview as well as the actual printed page.

I've tried all the settings and printer preferences and notheing works. I've also scoured the internet to find answers, also to no avail.

It's not my computer, because I have the same problem using other computers, and I am able to print word documents just fine.

I tried it in Internet Explorer and it seems to be working fine with it.

In fact, when I first strated having the problem with Chrome, I downloaded Firefox and it worked fine for a while and then I started having problems with it as well. I just started using Internet Explorer so, who knows, I might start having issues with it at some point, the way it's going.

Below are two print screens showing you some examples. The first one is in Chrome when trying to just print a regular 8 1/2 X 11 label on my inkjet printer. The second is in Firefox also tring to print using my inkjet.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I might try or where to go from here.

Thanks!

Re: Shipping labels not printing correctly

Your label 1 shows that you are using an HP Deskjet 3050A.  Is that the correct printer you are trying to use?

Re: Shipping labels not printing correctly

The HP printer is the regular ink jet I metioned. I use that when I need to print out an international shipping label or an order detail for my records. It's also my main priter for printing anything non-ebay related.

The other printer is the Brother wireless label maker printer I use for the majority of my ebay labels. In order to use it, I have to change the shipping label preferences on the shipping label set up page on ebay. I select the "Brother 550", towards the bottom of the list, since its' the closet to what I have and it formats it perfectly. If I need to print off an international label that has to be the standard size, I just have to remember to change it back to what it calls "any laser jet printer."

Re: Shipping labels not printing correctly

Leave the eBay shipping label format setting set to the QL.  eBay will switch to the full sheet when needed for packing slips, international, etc., without you changing it.

Make sure your browser is set to open PDF with Adobe and not its built in reader.  This is often the cause of format problems with ebay/paypal shipping labels.  Sometimes this setting gets changed, so you need to check it, especially in Firefox and Chrome.

If you use Firefox, you can even get it to switch between printers automatically as well.  Set the Windows default printer to the QL.  Then the next time you print a full sheet change the target printer to the inkjet and print.  Now ebay will send labels to the QL, but Firefox will remember the inkjet for packing slips and other printouts.

Re: Shipping labels not printing correctly

@carriew630   Easiest, especially if you haven't updated Adobe in a while, is to either re-install or update it and set Adobe as your default reader.

Otherwise, in Firefox click on Options under the Tools tab and scroll down to the Applications window.  There scroll to PDF (File) and also to Portable Document Format (PDF), and select Adobe from the drop down menu.
