Do any of you ship large items that are in their original boxes, IN their original boxes?
For example
Is it taboo to just send this thing in it's box if it sells?

Do you think that box or the item inside can withstand being thrown off the 2nd Floor Balcony onto the asphalt parking lot below?
Best to get a box or make a box that is at least 1" larger all around and then protect that space with 'bubble wrap'.

Those retail boxes are not strong enough to ship.
You need to ship it inside another box if you want it to arrive in one piece.

You need to ship it inside another box, those are just retail boxes and they are not meant for shipping

Absolutely positively NEVER !!!!!
In addition to the strength comments made above what if the buyer is getting it as a gift for someone. How happy will they be to get it all plastered with a shipping label to say nothing of dings, dirt and dents. I see a Red Donut on your horizon. On top of that I would immediately return it as Not as Described on your dime.
Something about penny wise and pound foolish comes mind.
(Yes this one is used and may not be a gift item but still.....)

Double box it for sure.

NO. Always box your item. It could be a gift too. Why announce it to everyone that sees the box. Plus I am sure that those boxes are not strong enough to ship that way. They arrived to the store INSIDE another box.
