I'm starting another thread on this, because what is happening doesn't make sense.
There is something major going on, can't find out what it is yet. Do not think this is a weather issue. I sent s package to Ga on the 17th, showed in transit to Ga. On the 22nd it showed back at my local sort facility. On the 24th, in transit again to Ga. It showed it arrived in AL this morning, now tonight it's in TN. My customer is not happy and wants a refund. Some people don't know enough about shipping and think this could be the sellers fault. I have several packages going to different parts of the country that were shipped on 13th, 16th,17th, they all showed in transit to their destinations, now they show arriving in Tampa,FL. 6 Days after I shipped, they are showing up in the same state. I tried calling the USPS 800# today, hold time was too long.
Called USPS again this morning, and the hold time is 1hr 40 min - 1hr 50 min. Some packages I shipped on the 17th show no update since the 20th. The rest have been in transit for 8 days, now showing Tampa, FL. I have packages in transit to HI,CA,CT,TX,NY,MI,GA,MN. Customers are starting to ask for refunds.

Yep. Two packages have been returned to me for no apparent reason. There's no explanation, they just reappear at my warehouse. It's small letter size envelopes, so I do not know if they're getting tossed around and misdirected, or what.
I have another two box packages that are "in transit" that should have been delivered last week. I have never had these problems with the USPS, but beginning this new year, it's been one problem after another. I think they laid off too many people afte the holiday rush was over.
Better get this fixed soon!

Same thing is happening to me. I ship from Houston, TX. Packages showing back to "North Dist. center, Houston, TX" after being close to the place where it should be delivered. Not sure what is happening.

I was told by consumer affairs that they identified multiple issues at the Miami-Opa Locka sort facility, which is where my packages go. After 3 weeks the packages have been rerouted through Jackson, now I see the same thing happening. Every 24 hrs tracking shows in transit, I don't think it's actually moving. I've called the 800#, more than 1 hr 20 min hold every time I call. They open a case, the destination facility receives it. They leave me a message saying they haven't received it yet, and close the case. No sheet, that's why I opened the case. I have to call again to reopen the case, I reopened 1 case 3 times. There is not one person that cares, everyone has a different responsibility.
Meanwhile my customer are asking for refunds.

I have shipped an item a couple of weeks ago to be delivered 1 HOUR away from my house! Eta was supposed to be 2 day delivery, it took a total of 12 days to finally arrive! It wasn't a holiday or bad weather! I called USPS and opened a case as well as the buyer to find the package and then it was delivered the next day! Honestly, I think the post office misplaced it!

USPS has a major issue at hand, and not fessing up to it. I also shipped an 1 1/2 away, and it took 10 days. In Florida, no weather issues here, not hurricane season. After waiting 3 weeks, they rerouted through Jacksonville, but the same thing is happening. I do not believe it's Miami, it seems to be happening everywhere.

It’s not just a Florida problem. I’ve been having all sorts of issues with USPS. I purchased something from someone in Texas, paid for 2-day Priority Mail. Took 18 DAYS to arrive!!! Tracking made it look like it was back in Houston 5 day after shipping. Then 7 days of “on its way” tracking updates, then 4 days of nothing, then...it was on my doorstep!! USPS is a 1 hour and 50 minutes wait on hold right now!!! I was dumb enough to order something from South Carolina on Sunday, (3-day Priority), it’s doing the same thing. Yet, I shipped a golf club to Maui from Phoenix in 3 days!?! Buyer was blown away. Very frustrating!! And yet eBay has the audacity to say they’re not aware of any problems???

It's funny you say this, because I have reported this issue to ebay 3 times. Every time I call, they act surprised. I was even told a note would be put in my account because I have 30 late or lost packages.
The defects are now coming through. I shipped an item 1 1/2 hrs away, and it took 10 days. I got a defect, so I called in to fix it. She said wait a min let me look at the tracking to make sure you shipped on time. Really??? So, I will say this again...if I didn't have acceptance scans or receipts my account would be suspended by now.
USPS is no help, they keep closing my lost package cases, and I have to wait 1hr 40min on hold just to reopen it. I've had to call them 5 times since this nightmare started. 2 packages can not be found, so I'm out that money. I do not make enough money here to account for that kind of time. Shipping prices go up and service goes now, is this the new norm for everything?

Just to update. One of my packages that was routed thru Opa Locka finally was delivered and it was wet and damaged. I had to refund.
Anyone else have damaged packages delivered that went thru Opa Locka?

I am having the same problem with shipping USPS Priority Mail. I take every package to the Post Office now and wait in line for a scan but some of my packages are still taking 7 to 10 days to be delivered.
My packages go through the Detroit distribution center and sit there for days. I have spoken to the local post office and the 800 customer service number and filed a case. I was told it would be investigated and that I would receive a response in two or three days. Over ten business days and still no response. I called and gave them a case number for follow up and was told "Priority Mail delivery time is an estimate only. " The post office can take as long as they want to deliver the package and there is nothing we can do as sellers.
eBay just refunded a global shipping item that my buyer has not yet received. It took the item five days to get from Detroit to the shipping center in Kentucky. My account status was not affected.
It appears that this is happening in a number of different locations around the country and it seems the post office response is that they can get away with it so they do it.

I am having the same problem here in Oregon. I will put a lot of 15 to 20 packages in the mail and the acceptance scan is the next day like they just sit there for a day doing nothing. Also I have seen where no tracking info at all has been uploaded but the package showes delivered on time but it still counts against me for no scan. How is this my problem?

Packages are now coming in after 3 weeks. I see one as "Undeliverable as addressed" , not sure if it's the wrong address or it's damaged. We will see.

It's sad isn't it. I called the 800# and consumer affairs and no one has been very helpful. They keep closing my cases even though they are unresolved, and I have to call and wait on hold 1hr 40 min to reopen it. This is the worst I've ever seen it. I said this was a nationwide issue in another thread, and someone responded and said "no". I don't no where that person is, but she said she's not having an issue. I've had 30. Some are starting to show, and be delivered. There are others that I finally see moving and getting scanned after 2 weeks of nothing, but there are a few that still have not been updated since the 20th. With refunds and shipping losses, I probably will not make a dime for Jan. Not only that, I feel like these customers will not buy from me again.

Because we are being micromanaged by the ebay machine, everything is controlled by algorithms. The acceptance scan time has to be within your handling time, but if the package is showing up on time regardless of the acceptance scan it should not count against you. If that's the case, you need to call ebay and appeal that.

When I call USPS 800# there's usually a message that comes on after a couple of min saying how long the hold time is and asks if I'd prefer to receive a call back instead of waiting on hold. Every time I've chosen this option USPS called back after the estimated hold time - once about 20 min later.
Only two times that I called did that option for a call back not present itself.
I'm sorry that you are having so many issues with your local sort facility. Have you tried contacting Nate from the shipping team to see if he can offer any insight or assistance in handling this situation? @ship_like_a_pro
