Shipping couriers estimated time needs to change.

All sellers can probably agree that calming the nerves of buyers is a major part of this job or hobby. I’ve learned to do my best on how to deal with it. However we all know that shipping in this country is far behind schedule and really never has been a set in stone system.

advertised time for shipping on eBay needs to have some sort of adjustment.

Do you think eBay should  instantly allow buyers to initiate a “did not receive” claim the moment it’s behind schedule? I think there’s things that could be done to curb the amount of unnecessary power buyers have on eBay .What do you guys think?

Buyers could potentially claim an item not received at any moments in the transaction process. Everything depends on how much patience the buyer has to receive their item. Please keep in mind that some buyers have same day or within 2 day expectations due to their buying habits with the big goliath out there. Plus buyers tend to not think about major weather delays or other factors that could delay a delivery. Its about now now now!

On the flip side, is ebay fairly estimating the delivery times these days regardless of the courier & current delivery conditions across the country. That is the big question. Give yourself extra handling time. However, ship everything out quickly. Any extra time that you can gain on the shipping side could be the difference between an on-time delivery or a delayed delivery.

Hang in there!

eBay is being a bit optimistic in its delivery time, in order to compete with "the other guy".  Otherwise, they might loose the sale to them.

@714ricki said it best. Most buyers are used to 1-2 days shipping and receipt, since "the other guy" has warehouses strategically located across the landscape, with goods ready to be shipped at a moments notice once the order comes in, and they use their own in-house delivery methods and provide a more efficient tracking of delivery.

eBay, not so much, goods are located in different places, in your garage, basement, attic, spare room, not always near the buyer, and we have to use a "third-party" delivery courier whether UPS, USPS, FEDEX, for which we have no control on when the delivery will take place.

The most that a seller can do is package and ship same day as sale is made to cut some slack in the shipping process, and still, that is no guarantee that there wont be delays.
