Did you mean:

Shipping costs are wrong, way too many times

I know shipping has gone up, but many eBayer's are placing too high cost for the weight they are shipping.    A 6 oz item in the package is not $12-15 to ship it.

I made a generic sell page to check some weights and measures on...  Many of them are charging way too much.  How do we inform them or eBay this is happening?  I've thought about going to my local post master to file a complaint against eBay and sellers for doing this.

Sellers also need to give you different options if they can for cheaper shipping rates.  If a region box, or ground is cheaper, then allow that & let us make the choice!

It's funny how eBay asks you on feedback how shipping rates are.  How would most of us know unless we get the weight off the package and do a check online?  And, no way to show if you did get combined shipping rates!  UGH!

And then there's ebay getting minimum 12% of that shipping charged to the buyer.

Not exactly an incentive to worry about it, is it?

@toomuchstuffagain35   I wish they didn't charge the full FVF % on paid shipping ... on my account in 2022 it meant they skimmed off about $ 1,100.00 on paid shipping alone ... it winds up being just under a buck per transaction looking at the big picture.  I ship a lot Priority mail so the FVFs add up on shipping.

It was nice that they FINALLY started to credit most if not all FVFs when Sellers issue partial refunds ...

Although you say you realize that shipping costs have gone up, in my experience, most buyers who aren't sellers don't realize the price of shipping.

When you did your "generic sell page to check some weights and measures on" did you take into account that although a 6 oz. item may just cost a few "forever" stamps to mail a "flat," shipping parcels add considerably to the price. Depending on which zone the seller is shipping to, price can vary by several dollars. And you don't give an example of the method those sellers are using, some might be doing priority mail even though they'd be able to use first class.

It's the seller's business and the seller has the right to ship by the method they choose and with which they feel most comfortable. Many sellers avoid first class, believing it to be less dependable than the equivalent priority mail and although IMO, they're wrong, it's their opinion and one cannot be faulted for a difference of opinion.

As was suggested upthread, one should look at the total cost of the item/shipping/tax and decide if that's a price they're willing to spend.

Keep in mind that buyers who might choose to "advise sellers" of a too-high shipping cost could potentially find themselves blocked after being perceived as a "difficult" buyer.

It might not work on the really tall doll you mentioned but anything that is under a cubic foot and less than 20 lb qualifies on pirate ship for parcel select ground cubic which is extremely affordable.

This is the price from Oregon to New York for 20lbs and 12"×12×12"
