Shipping cost differs

Shipping cost reflects $10. When I go to USPS, the rate is $17.10. Using Priority box. Why the difference?

Thanks . . . John

Ebay has a contract with USPS and we get a discount. Always purchase your labels through Ebay.

Re: Shipping cost differs

Best guess:

That Nikon flash listing is calculating shipping for a 2 lb Priority package which ranges from $9.80-$17.05 zones 1-8, retail rate ($7.64-$10.07 online rate).

But if you went to the post office and picked up a Medium Flat Rate Box that ships for $17.10 retail rate ($14.75 online rate) no matter how much the box weighs.

Do you have a plain brown box to use? If you do, you can ship at the weighted price.

And it'll cost less to buy the label online, but you'll need to enter exact package dimensions and weight.

Generally agree with you but I use Pirate Ship on occasion since eBay does not offer Priority Mail Cubic and I will not purchase UPS or FedEx labels through eBay due to the potential for unilateral surcharges. I don't ship much through UPS or FedEx but when I do I purchase those labels through Pirate Ship which has protection against surcharges.

Re: Shipping cost differs

To add to wastingtime101  comments I took a look at the two listings you have posted. I am on the east cost so it is showing me a shipping cost of $17.05 for either item. If I look at shipping options from Las Vegas to Annandale, Virginia in Pirate Ship you can ship a 4" x 6" x 8"  box weighing 2 pounds using Priority Mail Cubic for $13.17. See below. Or if you can get it into a box then put it in a USPS padded flat rate envelope you can ship it for $8.30 regardless of where in the US it is going.
