Hi Community!
Wanted to give all sellers a heads up shipping cylindrical packaging via FedEx. Examples:
1. Vintage 7UP bottle, Full 7 oz
11x4x4 1 lb 9oz calculated shipping (buyer paid) $13.58 seller charged $31.69
2.torque wrench
27x4x4 8lb 13oz calculated shipping (buyer paid) $17.83 seller charged $35.94
I believe if I would have thrown in a square box would have been cost the actual shipping calculator estimate.
Then check and see how they added the extra charges:
base $15.54
DAS $4.3
Fuel surcharge $2.2
Resi $3.26
Misc $3.00
Disc $7.59
Have used this packaging with USPS no problem and could have shipped the wrench smart post for ~$18.
If you are curious as to why I used this packaging thought more compact, stronger, and easier on the carrier! 😞
I called eBay and they were actually very helpful but as I acknowledged the resolution rests at FedEx. They were able to give me the breakdown below.
I called FedEx I was honest explained type of packaging I referred me to there 100+ page pdf that explains their charges and said the charges were valid sucks to be you (actually valid charges then dead silence).
My suggestion is to carefully watch you FedEx billing compared to actual costs and I will most likely quit offering FedEx services unless a huge savings. On an aside f you look there are certain size/weight packages that they have a niche for greatest value. Hope you find this helpful.

Welcome to the club! Sadly we see several of these complaints each week as sellers fall into the FedEx-eBay trap. Sorry you had to learn this way. If it is any solace, you are not alone.
When you buy a FedEx (FE) label on eBay you are using eBay's shipping account. When problems happen you are not the shipper of record and FE won't work with you. eBay has no system in place to handle these issues so you are left high & dry.
The best advice is ship from a FE Kinkos location or get your own FE account. Then you are the shipper of record and can work with FE directly when there are problems. If you feel you must use eBay FE labels, then first go on the FE website and get an estimated shipping cost, so that you see reality, not what eBay shows you.
Here is a list of the "extras' that frequently get added to eBay-FE labels:

This is yet another time that I see 'Disc' as a positive number .......
Disc $7.59
One would assume that Disc would be Discount, if so, why is it always a positive number? And if it is actually Discount, then why is it ADDED to the charges?

Thanks, I went back to check my post and low and behold dozens of complaints (for years) on this issue that didn't find before I decided to post my frustration.
Thanks, was a great explanation!
Follow-up
eBay gave me the breakdown of charges over the phone is there somewhere on eBay's website to see these for a specific shipment?
If you have a FedEx account and you enter the tracking # will it show these extra charges or prevent you because its eBay's account?
Thanks again!
