Shipping and insurance for a $5,000 international sale.

Hello All,

I have an item that could sell at $5,000 or more.  The chances are that an international buyer would be the highest bidder.  I have been researching over the past few weeks my options before I list the item. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best method of shipping that insures an item of that value?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Can you afford to lose $5,000?

Do NOT consider allowing international sales.    You will have virtually NO chance of protecting your interests or recovering any losses.

OK kids, time to get the Dodge loaded up again. I hear 'Poppy's By the Tree' calling. This trip might be a long one too.

Don't list it on eBay

I would not sell anything on ebay for $5k.  You have no protection here regardless of anything ebay says.  If the buyer wants to scam you out of you item and money they will.  Making an internation sale for that much means you have an even high chance of getting screwed.
