I would just like to say how I feel eBay is holding sellers responsible for performance outside of our controle.  It seems every time I reach top rated, I am demoted again to standard because the postman did not scan the item I shipped, within the designated time frame.  I have had items not scanned until they have reached there destination point. Yet, I am still the one held accountable.  This needs to be fixed.  I think 99% of seller do what is required.  Yet we are again let down by people that do not do their job.  Any other sellers have an opinion on this?

We're all only human. As a result, we have to rely on others that are also only human.  Do the best you can to get your packages out ASAP, then let the humans at the carrier do the rest.  If we all always do our best, our integrity will shine through.  Have the best New Year ever!

same happened to me. I have been give 2 months to get back up. What a go Ebay, I am now responsible for something, I cant control.

The way i solve this issue is to wait in line and get an acceptance scan at the counter. I very rarely drop a package off at the bin even tho our postal workers are amazing. It is too important to me to  take the chance packages might not get scanned in a timely fashion.

To ALL of you - use a scan sheet!  I get mine from Endicia but all the postage apps have one available.  If you have more than one package going out print off the scan sheet. Then the carrier only has to make one quick scan on the paper and all your packages are covered.

You can't use that if you drop them in a mailbox, you have to have someone there to scan the sheet.

I drop my boxes at the Post Office back door - they actually leave one of the rolling carts outside the door for me if the weather is decent.  Sometimes I have a couple hundred packages and my post office person only has to take a few seconds to scan the sheet, so all the packages are recorded as mailed.

Those of you who are having problems need to be pro-active and solve the problem.  Wringing your hands and blaming the Post Office won't cut it.  Find a solution that fits your own circumstances.  Taking the easy way out will cost you in several ways.

The main issue with using the blue box for drop offs is getting assurance of a timely acceptance scan time.   The time of deposit in the box - if after the last scheduled  p/u time your package does not get  scanned until the next business day - it  just sits there.  Plus, there is a chance that someone forgot to sweep the blue boxes - the human factor syndrome - this  happens more than we know.

A seller is held accountable by eBay for meeting their (the sellers) stated  handling time period.  This is evidenced by an acceptance scan or carrier pick up scan.   Simply don't put your fate in someones else hands.  If one does & gets busted don't complain - take full responsibility for once actions or non actions.

That should not happen. (should not)  Unless things have changed the "blue box" has to be opened to scan the "bar code" inside the "blue box" verifying the time that the collection was done.

If the scans are being completed without opening the "blue box" then the carrier has a "cheat sheet" (box location and scan time  needed) with the bar codes allowing the requirements for "blue box" scanning to be falsified. They can not be scanned early, Well, they can, but another scan would be required.

Other possibility (more likely) is that the box is being cleared (swept) without the removed contents being scanned. Pull the white tub (if there is on), stick a new one in there, scan the "blue box" collection bar code, dump the white tub in the hamper, and press on along the route, or back to the office.

I guess it's been a couple of years since I dropped from being top rated to below standard.  It was due to leaving packages on the post office counter.  Those packages never got scanned.  Although I refunded each buyer, I was still dinged.

Now I make sure I print out a SCAN sheet and stay in line for a clerk to scan the scan sheet, and I have not had a problem since.
