Shipping Magazines - Best way?

What are people doing to ship magazines they sell if the magazine + packaging goes over 13 oz and first class is no longer an option?

I see magazines posted for sale using Media Mail, but I thought you couldnt do that if the magazines have ads in them.  Even older 1980s / 1990s magazines have ads in them, so how are they able to use media mail?

Outside Media mail I dont see any good way to ship a magazine you sell for 5-10 dollars as shipping will nearly double the price.  So you're either not gonna sell the magazine due to high total price or you are going to profile VERY little at the end.

1st class goes to 16oz; anything above, you'll have to use Priority. MM is not allowed for Mags.

Make the label online and First Class is up to 16 oz. The others using Media Mail are doing it against USPS policy.  Media Mail can be inspected and if they're caught the buyer will have postage due for calculated Priority Mail.  Then for a bit  all their Media Mail will be inspected to make sure they don't do it again.

If my item is over the 1st class limit (and not a high dollar item), I pretty much avoid listing.  Instead, I try to list low dollar magazines as a lot if they will fit in priority flat rate envelopes, flat rate boxes or the regional rate boxes.

Using Media Mail for prohibited items is sort of like speeding on the interstate.     It's against the rules but lot's of people do it.

Until they get caught.
