There must be a way to handle this in Ebay shipping, but I can't find the best way to ship 9 x 12 envelopes, for sending brochures. How to find the drop down in shipping? It doesn't seem to be an available option when I want to list magazines, etc. They would not weigh more than 15 oz. Appreciate any help!

USPS First Class Package for less than 1 pound -- USPS Priority for over 1 pound.

Sounds like you want to use the service that USPS calls First Class flats, or "large envelope." Pieces that are flexible but too large or too heavy to mail as a letter. The new version of the eBay listing form has inexplicably eliminated the option to choose letters or flats as the "package type." You have to set the listing up for flat rate (not calculated) shipping, choose generic "Standard" shipping, and then enter the appropriate price, look up the postage cost for a flat of the weight of your piece.

It may be that eBay removed the choice of "large envelope" that some sellers would select when their intent was to ship without tracking. (stamps - no tracking)

Seems that now there are no choices that might trip up the seller as it did in the past.

Seller would select that "large envelope" and be totally miffed when the only thing that would come up when they wanted to print an "online label" was a"tracked package" that cost more than the buyer paid, and also more than the seller had expected it to cost.

Then there were the sellers that mistakenly chose "large envelope", and the buyer was charged the "large envelope" rate rather than a "tracked " online rate that the seller thought was being chosen.

In my opinion (worth nothing) it was a good move on eBay's part.

Thanks for this suggestion! So let’s say the envelope costs $2.10 to mail and I set that up as a flat rate, the label will only cost $2.10, correct? Also, it seems you have to estimate size of the mailed item but the thickness would be less than 1”…the flat rate overrides any size info?

You will not be able to print a $2.10 label on eBay. Only labels with "tracking" can be purchased.

You would pay $2.10 at the retail counter, or put $2.10 worth of postage on the envelope.

As far as I know the "large envelope" rate stops at 13 ounces ($4.14)

Doesn't it have to be less than 1/4" to qualify as a "flat"? I though that anything over 1/4" was qualified as a package.

I believe it is 3/4" with variation in thickness not exceeding 1/4".

1/4 inch is the thickness limit for letters. Flats can be up to 3/4 inch thick, and can weigh up to 13 ounces. If you're charging a flat price for shipping, then the dimensions that you enter in the listing don't matter. As noted, eBay doesn't sell postage labels for flats (or letters).

Flats must be flexible. If a piece is rigid and over 1/4 inch thick, then it has to be mailed at the package rate.
