When buying I choose in the USA because I don't want to wait or have to possibly deal with customs. The item says it is shipping from someplace in the USA but in reality it's shipping from China. Almost immediately after the transaction is done I get a USPS shipping number and that the distribution center is waiting for it. I can tell it's from China when I get my PayPal receipt, clearly showing the money went to China. Look I don't mind if it its coming from China but don't lie! Don't tell me it's in the USA when it hasn't left China yet. This is how they get around the filters. Hey China stop lying!! As soon as we see it's taking nearly 3 weeks for a fake domestic shipment we know you lied. Postal service is not that bad on their worst day.

Ebay has no way to stop sellers from China using straw addresses in the US as the item's location. I'm sure they could get a programmer to come up with something but they have no incentive as it would lower their profits.

I totally agree with you. I refuse to buy from China sellers due to the language barrier and item taking three plus months to get to you. I experienced the same thing you did.
eBay does have a policy that sellers must list a correct address. We need to report these sellers, it is happening a lot. This is happening a lot.
Here is eBay's link to item location misrepresentation:

You can report the seller. After so many strikes against their account it will be suspended.
Go to the link below and hit report seller, you will get to where it asks you what they did and you will hit other and write a description.

Hope this helps!

he "US only" item location filter selects items that are listed as being in the United States; however, as you have likely seen, not every seller that lists items in the US ships from the US as they should.
Before ordering you should check the estimated delivery dates -- that is usually a good indication of how far away items actually ship from. Also, going to a seller's profile page or feedback page will tell you where the seller's account is currently registered; if you go to the seller's current listings ("items for sale") and scroll down on the left side of the page, under "Seller information" you can check where the account was originally registered, I believe.
Although some overseas sellers do use US warehouses to ship their items (and some US-registered sellers may employ overseas drop-shippers), if a seller is registered overseas, that raises the likelihood of an item shipping from outside the US, particularly for multiple quantity commodity items. Checking seller feedback will often reveal if there are problems with long shipping times, canceled orders or other supply chain warning signs.
In the US at least, when faced with a long list of search results that you want to narrow down to sellers that can ship quickly, using the "Guaranteed Delivery" filter will often help; very few sellers that ship from overseas qualify. That is a rough filter, though -- many domestic sellers may be filtered out as well.
If no sellers can deliver to your area in four days, try changing your zip code and searching again -- the trick is to find sellers that can reliably deliver somewhere in the US in four days; the actual delivery time to your location is not material as long as it filters out overseas sellers. Just be sure to change your zip code back before you place an order to see the correct shipping calculations.

Thanks for the info. It takes so much effort to find things that won't take a month to arrive.

You are welcome!
It sure does take more effort to try and avoid China sellers. You have to know send messages and often get no response. There are so many China sellers claiming item comes from the USA and their tracking is a weird number first that doesn't work and all of the sudden you get tracking from California.
I especially hate it when the seller out right lies to you and says yes the item comes from the USA. After a few dishonest sellers I think I have it down on when the seller is lying. Just look at their feedback and how they respond to messages. I report these sellers when this happens.
I guess there isn't anything we can do, but, spend more time scanning these sellers.

Many of these overseas sellers DO seem to have warehouses in the US... but the accounts are maintained overseas. When filtering, I think the best we can do is filter as "Item Location" is US.
