Shipment to Australia gone wrong

1/1 - Sold item to buyer in New South Wales, Australia postal code 2162.

1/2 - Item shipped (label printed through ebay).

1/4- Tracking shows "on its way to Chestertown, MD zip 21620)

1/5- Tracking seems like it has been corrected and shows it is now at NY int'l dist. center

1/8- Departs NY.

1/10 - Arrives in Tokyo and spends about 11 days there.

1/21 - Arrives in the SF Int'l dist. center.

1/24 - Tracking now shows "on its way to Chestertown, MD 2162".

The hillarity of the mishandling aside, I am curious about a few things.

So the buyer wanted an immediate refund, negged me and filed an INR which I have until Jan. 30th to respond.

I'm thinking that I'll wait until the last day to respond to the request  in hopes that it might get delivered by then.

So my question is this:  If I were to respond TODAY to the request and put the tracking number in, what happens then?  Can the buyer ask ebay to step in once I respond?  So is it better for me to wait until the last day?   AND, if the tracking shows that it is still in transit but making progress (and hopefully in AU by that date), what will ebay do in that case?   Would they put the case on hold to allow more time for delivery?   I don't get many INR cases so I am not too how the system works in a case like this.

If the package has current scans why not call and get the case placed on hold? This is the same issue reported by Stuff4Divas and a few others. Did you print your label from ebay? Just wondering because ebay is formatting international labels wrong for some countries, I know they are formatting Italy wrong, don't know about oz 🙂

I did print it through ebay.  Yeah, maybe I'll call and see what ebay can do as far as putting it on hold.

Boy is this buyer mad at me!  Smiley Tongue

I dread to think what steps she'll take if she finally does get it!  lol .

Well, you can’t really blame her. She probably thinks you’re scamming her. It’s not your fault or hers. Maybe try to reason with her?
