Ship UPS

I have started shipping all my packages United Parcel Service. The post office seems to hold packages and extra day and most do not get delivered on time or they get Miss sent to another zip code facility which delays packages seems like they have gotten a lot worse it used to be the only way I ship things but now strictly UPS.

Please leave Miss Sent out of this.   She's completely innocent!

ETA: as is Miss Information, I should hasten to add.

UPS is rather good where I live.

They usually have the same routes in the city...thus can work faster and efficiently.

UPS has a key to enter our lobby of 9 apartments to leave packages inside.

Good luck, I can see you back on the board in about a month wondering why you are getting add-on charges to the UPS shipping costs you used.   You might want to use them for awhile before telling others to use them.

@fiftiesdiner

Been using UPS as the carrier for anything I really care about for years. I use USPS for the inexpensive and smaller items. UPS is hands down the more consistent of the 2 carriers as far as delivery times. Their distribution centers rarely experience any delays and if they do, it might be a day or two days would be an anomaly.  I track a lot of the expensive shipments.

Throwing out an estimate of 1500-2000 UPS shipments over the years and I have had two UPS upcharges, both for $2 and change over a dimension and both within the last year or so. I ship a lot of heavy/larger shipments and UPS is the obvious choice for those items.

If you know how to measure and weigh a package, you won't see the upcharges unless you are shipping something that is not a square or rectangle. Any frankenstein shaped packages will be upcharged. Any rectangle/square that loses it shape during shipping could be upcharged.

Over the same period I have had 2 or 3 upcharges from USPS and a couple of refunds, all were 2 or 3 dollars.

@fern*wood , how many of these UPS upcharges have you experienced?

I’m not a big time shipper, but do recall having them.  I then used FedEx and found them to be even worse.  I haven’t used either in about five or so years.

I have only had one package that took a couple of days longer than it should have. Keep in mind the many millions of back logged items that got held up for several days due to the tariff mess. That takes time to catch up on. Add to that horrible weather everywhere and staff shortages.  I worked for USPS. You have no idea what the average worker puts up with. They can only do so much especially when my friends who still work there say DeJoy has done everything possible to make things more difficult. He destroyed new sorting machines that would have helped immensely and has slowed down hiring when so many offices are grossly understaffed. Why has he done that?? Trashes the place, leaves a mess and now there's talk of privatizing it again. Doesn't take too much thought to figure out why.
