Service on label didn't match service used?

I am totally confused.

Buyer purchased item # 144801375105 set of 3 kitchen towels. (one off item so listing is ended)

Printed shipping label through eBay bulk shipping. Item weighed 15oz. Paid $6.00 for USPS Ground Advantage. (as shown in listing payment & shipping info). Item delivered on time, no problem.

Now I receive a notice through eBay of a change to my shipping labels.  Reason given: service on label didn't match service used. I was refunded $1.26. (which was nice).

I don't understand this.  The listing shipping policy stated free shipping via USPS Ground Advantage, or the buyer could pay for priority mail. The buyer chose the free shipping. I paid for ground advantage through eBay labels, the shipping label printed with ground advantage service, the package was shipped using that label.

Why the refund with the message service on label didn't match service used?

$6.00 vs $4.74 is the difference between a 12 oz pkg to zone 3 and a 15 oz package to zone 3. Best guess is you were refunded the $1.26 because USPS scale was off when the package ran through the sorting equipment, or possibly that the edge of the package was hanging off the scale sensor area.

The "service doesn't match" message doesn't make sense because that's usually for situations like buying a Ground label but putting it on Priority packaging.

I'd ignore the message and take it as a refund for weight, whether in error or not, and not give it another thought. USPS APV makes errors with both charges and refunds so if the refund works out in your favor then just take it as a bonus.

Service on label didn't match service used?

I just received a refund with the same message. I shipped an item that weighed a little under a pound across the country. I was charged $6.78 by ebay; which doesn't seem to be a commercial rate that I can see on a ground advantage rate table. Is it? Maybe it is.

Today I was issued a refund of $1.45.  Any ideas?

Does eBay sometimes use Ground Advantage Cubic? And maybe I measured wrongly?

AND you should also print your post out and frame it. I've never heard of an under weight refund before. Wow!

$6.78 is the cost to ship 12+ to 15.999 ounces to Zone 8. Subtract $1.45 and you get $5.33, which is the cost to ship 8+ to 12 ounces:

Thanks. I must have been looking at an outdated table. Could be the item was around 12 ounces and I overpaid.

I've gotten quite a few of them since APV started.  It isn't rare at all.

Service on label didn't match service used?

I recently had a refund for overpaid GA postage and they used that reason. I think their reason selector is stuck.

Service on label didn't match service used?

I received 3 more partial refunds from USPS in the past two weeks.  Same reason "service on label..." as before.

What is odd about these last 3 is that they weighed between 12.8oz and 14.5oz so I paid USPS for the 15oz ground advantage cost.  (Over 12oz so you have to pay the next higher weight cost).

Nice to receive a little postage refund but I still don't understand why.
