I orded this Tuesday, hoping to have the phone by this Saturday. His listing showed Expedited, so I messaged that or priority was fine since we are literally a few states away. He said he would visit "UPS" to ship.
The estimated delivery date is NEXT FRIDAY. That's 9 days without counting Sunday!
I won't be home for until Jan 14 after leaving this Sunday. The closest Fedex is 2 HOURS AWAY as well and always have avoided that **bleep** company.
What do i do? He's said he can't cancel the shipment since USPS is in control of the package. Ugh this is probably the worst experience I've had in over 8 years of buying on Ebay.

You said UPS, USPS and FedEx all in the same post.
EXACTLY what company and method was it actually shipped by and how do you know it?
Also, if you are leaving on a Sunday, ordering a phone from an eBay Seller on a Tuesday was not such a smart move. Fate can only take so much temptation before it decided to bite you in the butt. If you needed a phone that fast, should have gone to a local store and walked out with one.
The deal was too good to pass up haha. It was 430$ for a mint S8. The seller told me he would ship UPS Expedited. BUT Instead shipped using FEDEX SmartPost which is a partnership with USPS where they let USPS ship to the final destination. Sorry if i didn't make it clear.
It's fine now, I went to BESTBUY and bought an S8 for around 700$. The only problem was to return for refund, BUT it will be dealt with since my awesome sister in law will do it for me.
Thanks for the responses yall. I can now go back to visit my family in the UK without worries. Very time consuming and annoying, guess that's what i get for not buying from trusted Ebay sellers or a Retailer in the first place.

I had a couple of Seller who did this to me also. Fedex Smart post is like worst then USPS parcel service. Your Seller was not right. If it was listed with USPS Expedited then it should have been Priority mail which normally about 3 days but USPS has been messing up on that too lately. Oh I forgot to mention Fedex Smart post is also when Fedex carrier turns pkg over to USPS for final destination delivery so it will be USPS that delivers not Fedex.
There is not much you can do now except if you do not want it then you can file a non receipt after your espected delivery date which you see when you originally purchase has gone by. Seller should in good faith offer to accept return later since they did mess up claiming expedited delivery.

I think you are confused on FedEx SmartPost.
I'm a mail carrier.
USPS doesn't ship SmartPost, we do not see it until it arrives at the local Post Office and handed off to us for the last mile delivery.
SmartPost is handled by FedEx much like USPS handles Media Mail.
If there is room Media Mail can move very quickly. If it happens (like this time of year) that transport space is at a premium it gets bumped off in favor of packages with a higher classification. Same happens with FedEx SmartPost.
Once FedEx delivers the package to USPS for the last mile delivery it may also have to wait a day because it didn't arrive before the carriers left for their routes. We occasionally will get SmartPost while we are still at the PO, in that case we try to get them delivered the same day.

That's the kicker here. Carriers are on the road by 9AM or earlier. UPS SurePost and FedEx SmartPost don't drop off until 2PM or after. Some of the carriers are nearly done by then so the packages come out the enxt day. But the advantage is that I know within an hour or so when the package will be delivered unless there is a sub on that day. When FedEx or UPS make the delivery, it can be any time between 10AM and 7 or 8PM.

Thank you for the partial clarification. (BTW I am fully acquainted with FedEx SmartPost----for reasons other than slowness, a very risky way for a Seller to ship a $430 phone!!!)
However, you still have not mentioned how you know it was shipped SmartPost. Are you taking the Seller's word for it, or did you look up the tracking number on FedEx's/USPS's websites to verify the shipping method?

OK they did and it didn't get there... so the seller messed it up to save a few dollars....
things happen and it really is not the end of the world... you can return it for a refund when you get it, you can leave feedback...but except for being aggrivated, will you survive?
and fedex smart post ..is moved by Fedex but it is the local delievery that gets done by USPS..so if you "HOLD" your mail for the time your gone...they can hold it..till you get back.... talk to your post office....
