Seller shipped one order in multiple boxes without consent, is it allowed?

Seller shipped 28 items without consent in 3 boxes and only provided the track & trace code for 1 box on all 28 items. Not to mention it took 4 weeks(!!) to ship.

I was prepared to pay import charges (35 USD) and duty fee (15 USD), but now that amount almost doubled as I had to pay the handling fee 3 times.

Are sellers allowed to ship you multiple boxes without consent?

I had previously asked the seller to ship all items individually and was willing to pay the full shipping price in return however the seller refused now I got $1 USD discount per item but ended up spending more because of the multiple boxes.

Yes, sellers are allowed to split an order into multiple boxes or combine multiple orders to ship in a single box. As long as the seller is using the shipping method advertised in the listing (or better) then they can ship in as many packages as they feel is necessary for safe delivery of the items.

I don't think there's much you can do here except learn from the situation for next time and make sure you and the seller are clearly communicating about the number of packages and value of items in each package since it affects your customs charges and import fees.

I've never had an international customer purchase more than 10 items in a single order (shipped on one box), but I've learned from your situation! I know that as a seller I will proactively communicate the number of packages going to my international buyers if I have to split up their purchase into more than one box.

Sinply taping the boxes together and putting some shrinkwrap on it turns those multiple boxes into one parcel...

Maybe it was because boxes can't be larger than 1 cubic foot without incurring high shipping fees, plus if they shipped it 1st class international (what everyone else calls small packet), they can only ship up to 4 lb.  They probably had to break up the shipment into three boxes in order to keep the shipment within these parameters and avoid surcharging. Taping all the boxes together would probably have exceeded both size and weight.

ETA: I've had to do this more than once - though I warn the buyer.

Another poster explained probably why they had to do that..due to size of box, etc.

But did you even give that seller a chance to explain before you left him all those negatives? Wow..

I am blocking OP from buying from me,look at the feedback he gave to the poor seller.

When you buy from a manufacturer or established wholesaler, they will find the right box to fit all your items, but this is Ebay, person to person buy and sell and your seller is mere individual  working from home.

Haveyou tried asking him to split the bill and remove these negs??

Many shipping companies would refuse that package.

Wow.

Seller got the items to you safely safely and they were delivered within the estimated delivery time.

Seller did not charge you extra for the shipping.

AND you bomb them with negative feedback?

Personally, I think you need to apologize to the seller and ask them to send you a request to revise the feedback.

It isn't clear to me if the items were shipped  4 weeks after payment or if they were shipped right away but it took 4 weeks to receive the items.  If the seller didn't actually ship for 4 weeks  I think that they deserve a negative or two although 20+ negatives is overkill imo.

---------------

are you asking if Ebay allows seller to ship one order in multiple boxes without asking the buyer?

There is no rule from Ebay, what next, would the buyer want the shipping address in italic, bold, red,?
