Seller sent my item to a different state

I purchased a figure from a person in China, later on SpeedPak tracking said the order was cancelled. eBay did not notify me of anything, I only found out the order was cancelled by SpeedPak after checking the tracking after the estimated delivery date was passed. I opened an "item not received" case, requesting my item, and after a bit of back and forth which included the seller stating that for some reason SpeedPak cancelled it and would try to get them to send the item, I agreed to them sending it again (didn't close the case, just in case). They did just that, and it successfully went through China's  customs and reached California's USPS location and passed there, too. I thought at that time that it was just going there first and then it would go to my state after (Never said I wasn't an idiot). But as it turns out, it was sent to a front porch of a San Jose, California house, when my address used in the purchase, in my PayPal, in my eBay details, in which I haven't had any problems buying and recieving items from foreign and domestic places for years and hasn't been changed since, is Quincy, Illinois. Completely different zip code and state. In the tracking provided it states "item delivered". What can I do?

File an item not received case, should be a slam dunk with the pkg delivered to the wrong state and zip code.

It's currently a case, as I described in the post. So, it should be a slam dunk? Refund, or something else?

Hi @Anonymous numerous reports, including your reply to my post 9 months ago, demonstrate that eBay says "Item Delivered" simply when tracking says delivered anywhere.

Yes, eBay will pursue protection upon a manual review, over and over, possibly for hundreds of buyers every week. But can you explain: Why does eBay continue to (misread the city/zipcode and) announce "Item Delivered" by 1. email, in 2. Purchases, and 3. on the Order Details page, when the item was clearly not delivered?

Hi @ga-8370, I am sorry if there has been some confusion - I can confirm that tracking will state delivered when the item is delivered to any location, because this is the status of the tracking. Just because it was delivered to the wrong location does not mean the status of the tracking is not delivered. The updates you see reflect the status of the package, so when delivery has been confirmed, this is what will be shown. As you have stated, we look at more than just delivery status when we look into a claim - the item must also show delivered to the correct location.

Again, when an item has been delivered, regardless of the location it was delivered to, the accurate status of the package is delivered. If you see that a package has been delivered to the wrong location, you are eligible for protection.

Hi @Anonymous then perhaps the message should not confidently say "You order has arrived! Delivered to: The buyer's address"

eBay Delivered anywhere is Delivered.jpg

when eBay's echo of the Delivery message actually declares otherwise?
