Seller intercepted package when it was about to be delivered

I bought a $40 3DS on buy it now and paid immediately (obviously) with my card. The seller did a return to sender interception when it was in my town. It was maybe half a day from delivery! I’m a bit confused is there any reason they could’ve done this? They have a high rating and haven’t messaged me. I messaged them today asking with no response (it hasn’t been long though so I’m not worried about the no response just yet).

There could be any one of a dozen reasons why the seller intercepted the package, so speculation is really rather pointless. Just wait until the seller responds.

Have you checked your PayPal account to see if your payment has been refunded?

I've had to intercept a package before because I shipped the wrong item and I'm sure it's either this or the wrong label was put on your package. Intercepting a package is very expensive for the seller. I'm sure it's not a scam.

I did however contact the buyer when I realized my mistake and explained that the package would be intercepted.

Hope this helps.

Turns out eBay chargedback the payment without my permission because of account suspicious activity. Now the seller paid $15 for nothing to intercept it!! I changed my password and everything!

IIRC, it's PayPal that charges the seller the fee for a chargeback. Contact PayPal and tell them the purchase was indeed legitimate and to reimburse seller for the chargeback fee. Might work . . .

Or do you have some indication that is was eBay that charged the fee?

eBay did it for sure. I paid via credit card not paypal and then it shortly after told me to change my password due to suspicious activity: but it gave no indication any payment was reversed.

The seller didn't pay for nothing the payment was viewed as 'suspicious' and the seller is covering their butt costing them an additional $15 to prevent losing their item. Did you contact Paypal? The card you used to pay with, has your name on it?
