Seller Combined Shipping & Automatic reply when trying to contact them

Hello ~

I reached out here once before and it was a great experience so thought I'd try again!

Would appreciate your advice on how to proceed please...

I am wanting to purchase (9) smaller items (priced from $1.99 to $5) and receive the combined shipping for 1 payment.  I put them into the shopping cart and ebay is showing $3.50 shipping chgs for each item!  I have hesitated to try "Request Total" which is a viable option for this transaction (as sometimes ebay won't allow it in cart even tho' Seller says it's available, but this isn't the case),  because when requesting the total, ebay makes you "Commit" to all items before seeing what the Seller will do with the total shipping charges (didn't used to be this way!)

Also, when I've tried to contact the Seller, I get the following Automatic Response in "Red" (from ebay?):

"The seller isn’t able to respond. Review the listing again to see if it answers your question." {e88136-980586x}

This same message happened when I tried to "make an offer" which the Seller does have as option turned on in their listings.  I am concerned that the Seller might not offer combined shipping since they don't specify for sure and don't offer any comments under that topic in the Contact Us page either.

I usually send a specific note to get it answered before committing to the purchase!

Anyway, I did as the "red" message said and looked for any notation in his account or auctions that maybe said "on vacation" etc., but nothing was mentioned.  I looked for anything in their "About Us" and they have not noted anything that would explain it (or for that matter, anything about themselves).  Yet, they have 100% Feedback, been members since Oct. 2011, & have gotten good comments from buyers in the feedback.

I was finally able to send thru a message in the Feedback Profile page under Quick Member Links, Contact.  At least it went thru on my end WITHOUT getting that "red" ebay message as above, so I assume it was sent.  I haven't heard back from them after a couple days... (I know it's a BUSY time!)  ;o)

So...

Would you suggest going ahead and making the purchase by "Request Total" and hope they will combine shipping charges at a reasonable price?

But... what happens if they try to come back after my committing to the purchase and say they don't offer combined shipping... Am I stuck with $3.50 x 9 items @ $31.50 !!

(That's more money than the items purchased... Ugh!) Lol

And...

Does anyone know what the "Red" ebay message means ?!

I have never seen that before in the 15 years on ebay!

Sorry if this is l-o-n-g winded, but wanted to fully explain the situation!

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Karen

@kmor8755

If they do not have a discount shipping option on their listings and you were to add everything up in your cart and press that "request total," you would be on the hook for the shipping totals as indicated on the listing(s).

It is a bummer that your seller has not had the mind to do some shipping discounts for multiple purchases but then again maybe that is how some sellers want to have it happen.

If you cannot get that seller to answer you, it is best to think that the shipping charges will be exactly what you see when you go to the checkout page since they do not have to give any of us shipping discounts if they do not want to.

I find it silly that some sellers do not offer some form of shipping discount...they would probably get more sales if they did.
