Hi,
So, I can clearly see in my paypal that there is only one refund. It seems clear to me that they are trying to scam me and I do not trust this seller whatsoever, as they have been a nightmare what with selling a broken item and claiming it worked even after I provided video of it not working.
They are claiming that they will go to the bank to try to get *their* (my) money back. How should I proceed, other than attempting to file in small claims on them and have them subpoenaed?

@peachtea123 No, you were not Refunded twice ... if you were then you would be buying a ton of stuff and returning all of it to double your money ... and we know THAT'S not happening LOL! And no, if they contact eBay and their bank they will again be advised that only one Refund occurred ...
Its a hard thing for some Sellers to NOT take a return personally so they are probably just having a knee jerk reaction about having to give you all of your money back. I would just ignore any messages they send, delete them UN-read and move on.

I wouldn't do anything.

What in the world are you talking about? The seller can not get in your bank account and you can’t subpoena them.
I’m assuming you opened a return request and returned the defective item. You got your refund so all is well on your end unless I’m missing something.

They are saying they are going to go speak with their bank, not "get in mine".
If they steal money from me, I'm willing to go outside of ebay and bring them to small claims, so yes, I can.
I'm not sure what your source of confusion is, but I'm just asking if they can dispute their payment through their bank/ what actions I should take in case.

@peachtea123 Okay, let's clarify a few points here:
1. Did you file a Return claim in eBay's Resolution Center?
2. Did you return the defective item?
3. Did the "only one" refund in your PayPal account that you refer to cover the entire amount you paid the Seller?
Now, it almost sounds like you asked the Seller politely for a Refund when you determined that the item did not work and supported that with the video. And it almost sounds like the Seller gave you a partial refund and that you are expecting more. If this is the case then just file a claim in eBay's Resolution Center to get all of your money back.

I received a full refund, not partial, from the buyer after having to involve ebay because the buyer did not want to refund. I returned the item.
Now that I have been refunded they are claiming that I was refunded twice and they are saying they are going to contact their bank and ebay to try to dispute.
I am only wondering if this is possible on their end to do this and if there is anything I need to do.

Thanks! I was seriously worried because it was for a larger amount of money. I knew I wasn't refunded twice since it only showed up on my paypal once, I'm pretty sure they were just trying to trick me into sending my money back after the refund.

So here’s the misunderstanding. The way eBay works is, you pay eBay (through PayPal if applicable), eBay pays the seller. When you get a refund, it works in the reverse; eBay takes the money from the seller and gives it to you. There is never a money to money transaction between buyer and seller.
If the seller contests the refund through her bank, all the bank sees is a payment from the seller to eBay (or PayPal). If she prevails in the chargeback, which is extremely unlikely, it is eBay’s problem, not yours.

Okay, that makes a lot more sense. I've never sold before, so I've never dealt with having to do a return. They said they were also going to try to dispute through ebay, which I'm not too worried about that since they can see that there was only one refund.
I'm pretty sure they only contacted me to try to convince me to send back my refund. So hopefully that's the end of that. Thanks for explaining the transactions though, I didn't realize that it wasn't from buyer to seller directly through paypal.

@creoleorchid A "chargeback" does not apply in this instance since the OP is the Buyer and they already processed a return claim and were Refunded in full.

That is a good possibility ... they may have transferred some or all of the $$ out of their PP account and had to replace it to process the Refund ...

I should have used a different term. By “chargeback” I was referring to the seller telling the buyer she was going to contest what she claimed was a second refund eBay or PayPal took from her bank account. Of course that didn’t happen, but the point I was trying to get across was that OP was not involved in any action the seller might take with her (the seller’s) bank.
