Scammer eBay Seller using UPS tracking w no address - please advice - eBay wont refund $

Hello eBay community,

I need your help on some advices since eBay wont do anything about this scammer. I bought a $380 product from a seller that did not arrive to my house, even though UPS notification said that someone has signed for the package (while I was at home waiting). I immediately called UPS and they said that the tracking number the eBay seller provided was not my address and it was delivered to a different address; it didnt even have my name. UPS wont disclose the address it was delivered to. Also, on the eBay Seller tracking info, it only shows the City, not the full address. I messaged Seller but did not get any responses; opened a case with eBay but after 10 days, they closed it and said they will not issue a refund because it was received. Did they even check with UPS?? This looks like a scam because 1) Item was sold about 20% cheaper than most sellers, 2) Seller did not have my full address on billing, it was hidden for a purpose to deceive, 3) Seller did not respond in anyway to let me know what address and who's name it was on that shipment. This Seller/scammer might have sent an empty box to a random address in the same city, but unfortunately, UPS can't disclose that address, they can only tell me that it was not mine.

Now that I have a transcript from UPS stating that the package of that tracking number was not sent to my address, how do I contact eBay to give them the info? Everything I click I get a "Server down..." Thanks in advance for any advices!

Your seller doesn't know either what address and who's name it was on that shipment, as they just copied the tracking number off of a random UPS package delivered to your city.

And @jazberryblues you're focusing on the wrong details.

Instead, was the tracking number already shipped even before you paid the $380? Is the weight way off from what you bought? That's how you know that it's not your item: It was a package someone else bought for themselves; your seller just gave eBay that tracking number to prove your delivery.

Unlike eBay, your card issuer, if that's how you paid, is willing to call UPS, and when you point out the wrong date or weight, they will chargeback for a refund from the actual seller for you.

Hi papa486516, that's some great info! I did in fact file a dispute with my credit card company. And you're a right on, the package should have been less than a pound but the package that was delivered was over 4 pounds! Will make this note for both eBay and my credit card company. Thanks PAPA!

What's puzzling is that I get an email from eBay telling me they closed the case w o refunding me and asked that I check with anyone else in home that might have accepted the package. This is after I told them that I was home all day and did not get the package and that UPS said it was delivered to a different address. eBay, please please do your due diligence, you can't just copy UPS tracking message from UPS site that does not even have the street address and tell me that it was sent to my home. Frustrating.

Watch out, that charge often gets put back on your next statement as the credit card company does not review the first go around. They just accept a notice saying it was delivered without looking at the address.  You will have to call again and they will take it off and take it to the next level.

That is a very common scam that eBay always seems to fall for.
