So I received a postage due from my local post office today stating that I owed $152 for postage due for an item I ordered on eBay last week. Problem is I already paid the seller $140 for shipping (it’s a heavy 65# motorcycle part) my post office said that the seller mailed it Medium FR box and it should never have gone that way, size is too big - it should be a regular box. I contacted the seller and he’s like - “ not my problem……” contacted eBay and they are also saying “you have to take it up with the seller……” so I’ve been scammed for 2 lots of postage nearly $300 when this shyster apparently only had to pay around $20 for a medium FR box even if it weighed 65#

Help!!!!! Who can I sue here!!!!🤣 I’m seriously thinking about going all the way with it getting legal advice just through principal and because I’ve been turned over as the innocent party.
I’m also bitterly disappointed in eBay for washing their hands of me when an injustice has been done on their watch, and I will be sure to spread the word as best as possible and ensure people are aware of eBays extremely disappointing response to my situation.

You do not lose buyer protection if a buyer refuses delivery because postage was due.

File a not received dispute and put in the dispute it was not delivered because xx xx postage was due. Then contact eBay and ask them to close the case in your favor and refund your money.

Trying to understand. The label said MFRB but the part was in a different type of box ??? so it arrived Postage Due.

If this is what happened then what you do is ask the PO to please hold the package while you contact the seller about the shortage. Take a picture of the package and message the seller.

Dear ____, The item you shipped arrived at my Post Office and I was notified that there was $152 postage due before I could pick it up. I paid you $140 S/H as per the listing. You put a Med Flat Rate Label on the NOT Med Flat Rate box which caused it to arrive Postage Due. You need to PayPal me the amount you SHOULD have paid $152 so I can pay the Post Office and get my item.

Please note that if you do not send this the package will be sent back to you and you will have to pay it at YOUR Post office and also refund me my total purchase INCLUDING the original S/H of $140. This will also put you on the radar of your local Post Office so they take a closer look at any future packages you ship.

Please send the funds promptly as they will only hold the package a couple of days.

You say 65+ is it over 70 pounds? That would make in ineligible for flat rate even if it is in a medium flat rate box

It sounds like the seller used ebay to print the shipping label. I would have thought the APV (Package Verification Program) would have caught the discrepancy and changed ebay the difference, which in turn would charge the seller's account. Of course, that is not instantaneous as we have had sellers posting here about underpaid postage being charged months later.

I would do as suggested, and contact the seller with a photo of the shipping label and postage due notice. If the seller is smart, he will send you the money, instead of allowing the package to be sent back to him.
