SHIPPING RATES GONE CRAZY

Hi! I am writing to see if anyone else is seeing ridiculously high rates on ebay? I do live in Puerto Rico, which is already complicated, but all of a sudden all products are $50-$80 dollars to ship to PR???? Please tell me this is a mistake..

Re: SHIPPING RATES GONE CRAZY

How heavy is the package?

Oversized?

Keep in mind there is a Holiday surcharge with USPS.

Shipping to PR (from a US address) is no different than shipping to NY or New England or Florida

I can not teach anybody anything
I can only make them think

Re: SHIPPING RATES GONE CRAZY

Shipping a 1lb box to 00606 from Oregon 97338 for me is $10.37, seems normal. 20lbs is only $11.15, HUGE discount.

No, it's not specifically because of ebay.

Re: SHIPPING RATES GONE CRAZY

Are they USPS rates or FedEx or UPS rates? Shipping the same item via USPS from California to PR can be, say, $10, but FedEx or UPS can charge dramatically more than that to ship the same item to PR (or anywhere outside the lower 48, some people won't ship outside the lower 48 if they have to use FedEx/UPS for that reason.)

eBay has an "eBay international shipping" option for sellers to ship from the lower 48 to Alaska, Hawaii and PR, even though they are not actually international of course. It is possible that the sellers may be using that, and the EIS shipping may be dramatically more expensive than USPS, but it is just a guess.

Re: SHIPPING RATES GONE CRAZY

Are you using your US zip code in Puerto Rico in your delivery address?  I have a 9 x 11 x 13  inch  4 pound package going out today to a customer in the 00777 US zip code there and it cost him  $17.02.

I've seen it mentioned here that there are two ways to ship to Puerto Rico - with a US zip code or some other way which is like shipping to a foreign country from the US.  I am in the south central US.

Forgot to say it is shipping USPS Ground Advantage.

Re: SHIPPING RATES GONE CRAZY

Make sure your shipping address has "State: PR" & "Country: US" otherwise it will be seen as an international order.

Some seller may choose to only send to PR using 'eBay International Shipping' service to avoid problems associated with common delays in shipping there. That is significantly more expensive than regular shipping and by the pricing sounds like what you're running into.
