Returning an item (Stereo Mixer) that doesn't work as expected...

I made a recent purchase for a stereo mixer. Tried to go budget and got budget 😛

(6 channel option)

The item was received new. Looks just like it should. Functions work. My beef is, it's horrible. Mixers should have the ability to maintain a signal and increase the signal power (pre-amp). With all sound levels straight up, the signal is diminished vs. the source, and I have to crank up EVERY gain to max and still barely get an increase. In addition, the signal is muted and loses quality. It does not sound distorted, but it just flattens all the sound.

My question is -- as a buyer -- I don't see a PERFECT option for this situation. This is not buyers remorse (unless you define that as what I bought sucks and now I wish I didn't buy it :P). This is not 'changed my mind'. The best option on eBAY is probably "just don't like it" but it's not about something subjective like "I didn't like the color". It's because one of its main functions, pre-amplifying signal, is extremely poor.

The option "doesn't work/defective" applies to some degree, but I certainly would not describe it as SIGNIFICANTLY NOT AS DESCRIBED (SNAD). I want to be honest, but I also believe the seller might try to pull the "return has to be to China" even though it drop shipped from New Jersey. So if I try to return and am responsible for shipping, it will clearly be a useless endeavor and then I will have no recourse.

What do you suggest? Just eat it? way. I'll just be stuck with a **bleep** toy that I'll never use. What do you suggest? Just eat it? Or would it be honest enough to call it Not Working/Defective? Or will eBAY provide a shipping label if I chose "Just don't like it"?

As expected...eBAY really needs to address this. Seller would not provide address to me through messaging. Knows the game he's playing.

Sellers are not allowed to provide contact information through messaging.  Why not just request a return through eBay's system?

You need to open a Not As Described claim. The seller will issue the return label. Use the sellers return label.

If it's not worth the seller's time, their choice might be to simply refund you to close the case. If they want it back, know that when their label tracks delivered back to the seller, you'll get a full refund. Good luck!

If it works like a $50 mixer should, then hang on the wall in the garage with a note to self 'never again'.

If it doesn't work like a $400 mixer- see above.

If it does NOT work like a $50 mixer should- then return it- NAD.

When I saw the Return address I looked up policies and indeed it says it shipped from New Jersey and thus should be returned to New Jersey. Thanks for your comment. I'll be contacting eBAY.

I have another $50 mixer that works fine. This one is horrible. I filed as "not happy with it" and planned to pay return shipping, but they provided a Chinese address when it shows it ships from Jersey.

Why because he got what he paid for?  I see this kinda thing often, a buyer buys junk then complains about it being junk. I’ve purchased items like this myself in the past. I just learn and move on.

I did not file SNAD because it does not apply. But, the seller sent a return address in Chinese when it shipped from Jersey, so that's an issue (separate).

I was able to chat with eBAY.  They are closing the case in my favor after hearing the seller provided a return address in China (and in Chinese). They stated a refund would be issued to my original payment method. If the seller later insists on returning the item, they must facilitate it (which I assume means to provide a shipping label).
