Has anyone had issues with ebay automatically generating USPS First Class return labels when the original listing specified, and the item was shipped, USPS Priority Mail/USPS Priority Mail Insured via a shipping label purchased on ebay?
Why is the automatically generated return label not the reciprocal service of the service specified in the listing? (i.e., if shipped Priority, return label Priority; shipped UPS, return UPS; shipped USPS First Class, return USPS First Class)
What happens if you ship a Priority Mail item that is 2 pounds; Buyer wants to return; ebay automatically generates First Class label, but Buyer can't send a 2 pound item via First Class Package (15 oz limit)?

Ebay issues first class RETURN SERVICE labels. The regular first class weight requirements don’t apply to return service labels. So yes a buyer can use a first class RETURN SERVICE label to ship a 2lb item.

What about insurance coverage that comes automatically with USPS Priority Mail; Does first class RETURN SERVICE carry the same insurance coverage for the item that was shipped initially via USPS Priority Mail?
(Often carriers and service types are chosen specifically for managing risk of loss.)
Nope they are uninsured labels.

You should consider bringing this up at the ebay weekly chat on Wednedays at 1pm PST. It IS a vald concern. The other concern that has been brought up is that automatic acceptance takes away the ability to work with the buyer--not all buyers want to return for a refund, some would be happy with a replacement item or a partial refund. So please come to the chat next wednesday 🙂
