Return policy

What is the best return policy for a seller to go with?

I think there are 3 options:

a)  don't accept returns

b)  accept returns within 30 days (buyer pays return shipping)

c)  free returns accepted within 30 days

any advice?

Thanks

Jane, I looked at your listings, and I believe that those are the kinds on items – board games and whatnot – that wouldn't incur many returns.  On that basis, I'd suggest 30 day free returns.  If there's the likelihood that you'd have to honor very few returns, you might as well go with the one that puts the best light on you.

Temper my opinion with the knowledge that I'm not a seller, so I have no practical experience.

Re: Return policy

I agree with goimius.  I would do 30 day Free return based on what you are selling.

Re: Return policy

Echoing the peanut gallery here - 30 day free returns...UNLESS you have return issues already.

Just be advised that if you DO get a return, you will pay return shipping no matter the reason for the return.  With free returns, I don't like it, I found a better price, it makes my butt look big...those are all legitimate return reasons and you are required to pay for that return.

Plan for it, self insure. Set aside a bit from each sale, let it grow. That is what you use to cover any return (or any loss) you may incur.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.
