Return a defective item

Hello guys , I will try to explain this , English is not my first language so please sorry for any errors.

Some days ago I returned a car part because it was defective , I returned before the 30 days return window. I used the free return label provided by buyer which not included insurance for the part ( value of 300 usd).

I packaged it well and send it back to the seller, he received the part and issue just a partial refund saying that the part was damaged due to poor packaging when I sent the part back to him. The part was defective in the first case , and if it arrived damaged back to him because of usps that’s not my fault.

What are my options now ?he just issue refund for 50% of the cost of the part and I really deserve the 100% of the refund , what are my options now? There is an option that say ask us to step and help.
Any input will be highly appreciate

Ask ebay to step in. Let us know what they say.

As brian@ebay has repeated, whoever pays for the return label is responsible for that shipment. Here, your seller paid for the return, hence you are due a 100% refund.

Your seller could have uploaded a return label with insurance, and should have addressed the purported damage in transit with the shipper, but did neither.

eBay will review this when you click Ask eBay to step up, pay the remainder of your refund, and make a note that your seller improperly used the partial refund privilege.
