I returned a guitar that I bought and am tracking it on the shipping tracker. For 3 days now, it has been out for delivery with no authorized person to accept it.
How long can this go on before I'm refunded?

You'll be refunded while you're still on the phone when you call eBay using the number you get from the links at the bottom of this page. eBay considers all delivery failures such as Refused, Available for pickup, No such number, etc. to be Delivered.

Out for Delivery and No authorized person to accept it are two DIFFERENT statuses.
They may have tried to deliver it and if you sent it with a signature required, maybe no one was their to sign for it. the carrier should have left a note for the person you shipped to notifying them that they attempted delivery.
Have you contacted your seller? That should be your first attempt. Give them some time to respond. This may just be a simple communication issue, so don't assume anything bad.
If your seller has been working well with you during the return process, it is likely this will all turn out fine without having to involve Ebay. But of course you are completely protected here if it turns out your seller is doing something they shouldn't.
Try emailing the seller and then please come back and update the thread on your progress. Keep a close eye on the tracking too.
