I have received a package addressed to another person, but to my address. It contains an unwanted item including a return form. How can I get the item returned to the right seller?
I've tried searching on the numbers (ebay return id, ebay item number, ebay buyer id- but nothing comes up). The package doesnt contain the full address for me to search for the sender either.
Any advice how to get it back to the right person?

Either the eBay buyer ID or (especially) the item number should work. Did you remember to check the Sold Items box when searching by item number?

What is the item number?

It sounds like you've already done time @hells1962 but if you can do more time, eBay CS can contact that seller for you when you give it that Return ID. Use Google to find the number for eBay; google "ebay number".

Thanks- you prompted me to look further and I found the advanced search option. So have identified the original seller. Really weird as they seem to live very close to me, and have a relatively new account- wondering how my address ended up on a return package....feeling a bit suspicious.
Nevertheless- thanks for your help! I've sent a message and hope to reunite the parcel with the seller.

Um, yeah... I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that what's in the box may not in fact be what was originally purchased. A buyer's payment can be automatically refunded as soon as the return shipment shows a Delivered status someplace (anyplace) in the seller's City and ZIP code, without regard to the exact street address... which would seem to include your address as well. (I assume that you have no connection to either the buyer or seller here.)
I'm not suggesting that you open the package yourself, but was the item purchased a rather expensive or popular one? (e.g. a smartphone or game console?)

To reroute it, OP already opened the package with another person's name.

Oops, missed that part.
@hells1962: So does the item in the package appear to be the one that was originally sold?
