Question regarding request to cancel order after I purchased postage.

Hello, I have a buyer asking to cancel an order 24 hours after choosing Buy It Now and after I have already paid for the postage and packaged the item. I stated in the listing that I do not accept returns and the buyer never communicated with me prior to buying the item. Do I have an obligation to accept her cancel request? Thank you for any advice!

You're not obligated to cancel, but you might save yourself some trouble by doing so. Some unhappy buyers have been known to trash the item, open a case, and get their money back costing you not only the cost of the item, but round trip shipping as well.

You have a BUSINESS decision in front of you right now.  How will you handle it?

What is to be gained by FORCING a sale?  Does that make a happy buyer?  What can the buyer do if they are forced to accept the item?  What if they get the item and file a SNAD case against you and you fight the return because you have a "no returns" policy?  What is the definition of a MAXIMUM LOSS?  (when you fight a SNAD case and eBay refunds the buyer from your funds, without requiring a return)

So technically you have no obligation to accept the cancellation request, none whatsoever.  But does that mean it is the right business decision?

Since you have a 'no returns' policy, I suggest you take a look at your responsibilities as a seller when a retrun request happens.

Once you cancel the order you will want to also cancel the shipping label.

Go to:  Seller Hub > Orders > Shipping Labels and find the label and request cancellation.

It takes sometime, a week or so, for the label to "expire" (USPS makes sure it has not been used) before the refund of the shipping costs is refunded.  But you will get those funds back.

You don't have an obligation, but if the buyer doesn't want it and receives it and even though you state no returns, they can easily return it by stating not as described.  They could find any tiny nothing and make a case of it.  To avoid all of that potential and probable trouble, I'd just cancel.  You'll still take a hit on the PayPal fees too though.  It's happened to me several times....

It is never a good idea to "force" a sale on a buyer nothign good will come of it.  You no return policy means nothing when a buyer  can claim an Item Not As Describe case & they will and you are out  more money...  You can recover your shipping label cost - you need to  act soon.

Listen to all the advice on here, it's all correct. Also go back and familiarize yourself with the TOS for eBay. Your no returns means nothing to the MBG eBay offers. You are selling on this platform so you have to abide by their rules. Best of luck to you....

Question regarding request to cancel order after I purchased postage.

Look at the best outcome and the worst outcome.

Best, you cancel and request the label be voided. Recover postage cost, FVF's and relist.

Worst, you ship the buyer is peeved they hit the item with a hammer or slash it, claim it arrived damaged in a SNAD. You have to pay return shipping and refund the total payment. you are out the cash and the item and probably have a red donut to boot.
