I bought a leather jacket. It was supposed to be a mens large, but was a womens large, and too small. Contacted seller, who asked me to wait 7 days for him to post a new auction, then ship jacket to new buyer. Sounds kinda iffy to me. is this a normal thing? Is it cool to do this, or nah?

It's not normal, but it could be a courtesy for the seller to save a few dollars. Here is how to proceed should you want to do it this way:
If 1,2, and 3 are all satisfied ... then you can go ahead and ship the coat as a courtesy to the seller, and that should protect your interests.
Now, if you want to do this the "normal" way, then here's the proper way to handle this.

- The seller must refund your money fully (purchase price plus shipping) before you mail the coat ... the money must appear on your original form of payment, independent of whatever the seller is telling you.
- The seller must refund your money within 30 days of whenever you received the coat.
- The seller must send you a pre-paid shipping label.....
That advice makes sense if the buyer wants to help out the seller yet avoid any potential shenanigans. The only change I'd make is that I would wait only 10 days before filing the "Not as described" claim.
And instead of sending you a prepaid label, the seller could just send you money via PayPal along with the new buyer's name and address. This seller is putting a lot of trust in you just in order to save himself the cost of return postage. Absolutely do not ship the item before getting your full refund plus the new postage cost.
