Hi Everyone,
I'm very new to Ebay and I need some help with a return issue. I purchased an item and decided to return it. The seller accepts returns. I sent him a message just to let him know. He messaged me with his return address and said that it may be different than the address on the return label that Ebay provided for me use. Well, I wasn't able to see the return address on the label unless I purchased it, so I did. It was in fact different than the address he's asking me to ship the item back to. He said that he thought he had updated his address and apologized. I understand that can happen. I'm glad that I messaged him first or else I would've just printed the label, shipped and he never would've gotten the item. So, I guess I'm worried that if I don't use the return label that Ebay provided that I won't have proof that the item was actually returned. It's not letting me purchase another label. The seller says he can't provide me with another label through Ebay. It's not letting me manually enter tracking information/carrier because a label was already purchased. I just want to make sure that I can provide Ebay proof that the item was returned in case the seller says he never received it. There might be a simple answer to this question but I'm new to Ebay and just don't know. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Thank you. I guess I feel bad because he seems like he's being honest and I'm afraid if I do that Ebay could blame me for not shipping to the address he requested through messaging. I'm not familiar with how Ebay handles things at all.

Thank you for your advise. It's not giving me an option to void the label...or I'm not seeing it. It's only giving me the option to "cancel return", I definitely don't want to hit that. I think I read that I won't be charged for the label until it ships. I can't use it, so I probably won't see a charge for it.
I just can't figure out a way to make sure that I have proof that the item is returned. If I don't use the label provided by Ebay, I don't think it will ever give me an option to escalate a dispute if the seller doesn't refund me. It will just look like I never mailed it back.
Does anyone know if it's possible for the seller to provide me with a label another way? or can he somehow enter in the tracking manually and link it to my purchase?

Could be a dropshipper.
Just use the shipping label Ebay gave you.
If the return address isn't correct, it's not your fault.
