I regularly purchase shipping indemnity insurance through eBay's labeling process (which I had viewed as awesome until now). Virtually everything I sell is some sort of book and so I use Media Mail quite often. However, it turns out that the total postage purchased including insurance is communicated to the USPS as Media Mail! After many years of selling without incident, I finally needed to file a claim and it was summarily denied with the statement no insurance was purchased. I can do the math and break out what I paid for insurance vs postage since the weight is on the label that survived. I have scoured this site top to bottom inside and out and I cannot come up with a breakout for postage paid. It's all lump sum. If anyone has any insight (might have to file a manual claim he said without confidence) please pass it along. I'm out $120 when I did everything I was supposed to do. TIA. David

Hey @md06222002. Did you purchase USPS insurance or ShipCover insurance? Both are available through eBay.
If you're unsure, do this:
Track the package on USPS.com then expand the "product details" section at the bottom. It tells you whether or not a package was insured with USPS.
If you purchased ShipCover insurance, first review the TOS here:
https://pages.ebay.com/insurance/shipping/coverage.html#notinsure
Then go here to read info in the policy pages on using that insurance and filing a claim:
