Problems from the beginning with buyer

Good morning all!

I need advice since I’m still semi new at eBay. I’ve had no broken items, all positive reviews. I bubble wrap the stuff like it’s being sent to the space station . So, a lady messaged me about an alabaster bowl I had for sale and said she would pounce on it but thought the shipping was too high to get it to her in Texas from MD . So because I thought I was being nice I changed it. She purchased it (won it)  sat night, 8:30pm or so. I sent had a bunch of stuff go off the same night. I shipped everything on the 4th. Now, everyone else’s items arrived fine. She wrote me and said she purchased other things sat and got them Monday. That I was late on shipping. No, all of our stuff is USPS priority mail and 3 day (business day) handling time. She wanted her shipping refunded. I actually believe it or not said fine.... she then said no nvm keep it. Her package arrived yesterday... while all the rest I sent out arrived sat. I watched it. It sat  at her post office for 2 days. Not my problem. Now, NOW! She messages me and says “the plate is broken in pieces” mind you, I even told her in a message that I bubble wrap my stuff and make sure it’s secure. I’ve had bigger glass objects ship and we’re fine. All of my items have always arrived safe. I know things happen. But I’m talking about prob 6 inches of bubble wrap around that plate. She says idk how because it took me 15 mins to unpack it. I didn’t even u pack it all the way. So then how does she know it’s in pieces? I’m so aggravated. The plate is a $150 plate she won for 20 bucks... it’s Italian Alabastro.... advice please? I would appreciate it so very much. I would hate to think she did this just to get her money back because HER post office didn’t get to it until Monday. I’m sure you can look at the rest of my feedback. I have messages from other buyers saying their things were packaged super well and they were so pleased. I don’t have an issue refunding as you see I was willing to do that for her even though I know I didn’t have too on the shipping...... but it’s like she knew she was already gonna do this even after I left her positive feedback.......

Re: Problems from the beginning with buyer

Wow. That’s terrible. I think it is totally amazing that your son runs the business with you! Bless you both. I have an Aunt with disabilities and I call her my Angel. We could learn a lot from others like your Son and my Aunt. I know I’ve learned so much from her. Her spirit is pure and she’s an amazing individual.

I always give people the benefit of the doubt because I have a huge love and compassion for others. I too often let things personally get to me. It’s a blessing and a curse. Thank you for all of your support and advice!

Re: Problems from the beginning with buyer

Oh my, I am also sorry you had to deal with such behavior. Jewelry lots are just that. Sometimes you may have an item that you are particularly not interested in that came with the lot. But, she was happy with every other piece of jewelry in said lot. One pair of earrings shouldn’t define the entire lot she purchased. She could sell the clip on pair or give them to someone who could wear them. Simple.

I wish we could please everyone, but sometimes even when we try our best to accommodate someone that too isn’t a good enough solution.

Thank you for support and advice! It’s much appreciated!!! Blessings to you

Re: Problems from the beginning with buyer

Exactly if you buy a lot of ANYTHING there are going to be items you don't want you buy lots for the items you do want In spite of items you don't really want.
Blessings to you too and by the way Best of luck with your selling here on eBay

Re: Problems from the beginning with buyer

At this point I recommend calling up EBay customer service and getting them involved.   This woman is clearly a scammer and she should be barred from the site.

Re: Problems from the beginning with buyer

Last year I shipped a cookie jar that was extremely well packed too including double boxing.  The buyer opened a claim  with eBay stating that it arrived damaged.  I requested pictures because the item was insured but she didn't respond.  I took a chance because I never had a buyer who wouldn't send me pictures.  I responded with return for refund and I never heard from her again.

Re: Problems from the beginning with buyer

Stick to your return for refund only.   There is no longer any reason for you to respond.   Either she ships it back in a timely manner which I believe is 5 business days or the claim will get closed.

Your initial shipping charge wasn't unreasonable either.  I know what it costs to ship a bowl as I sell collectibles.  There are some people who do this purposefully because they know  eBay no longer  requires them to provide pictures.  So if they claim an item is damaged most sellers would just refund.

Re: Problems from the beginning with buyer

1. You’ve been too nice to that buyer.
2. Have you tried to sell on other platforms? They give buyer 3 days to accept or return purchased item. No 30 or 60 day returns. We are not department stores.

Re: Problems from the beginning with buyer

If anyone else checked the complete feedback  profile this buyer  has been on eBay since 2003.  She didn't leave great feedback remarks, had multiple cancellations, and has sold on this site as well.   She got a negative as a seller. She knows exactly how to upload pictures and scam people.

“my husband says I can’t put anymore than I already have into this so you need to pay for the return label)

Oh, this is such classic deflection - she's got all the tropes - definitely this is NOT her first rodeo.  Make sure you report her through the case - reporting verbally to CS won't work, it has to be on record.  What gets me is this is over a $20 item.

Re: Problems from the beginning with buyer

You have lots of really nice things and for a low volume seller, it looks like you do pretty well. Unless I'm mistaken, you can afford to ignore and/or block people with an entitlement mentality like that after the first message.
