Hi guys,
I defined an item for sale. I defined that the price includes shipping worldwide. Please check the screenshot.
A buyer from Buenos Aires, Argentina is trying to buy it but he is getting a message saying that this item doesn't ship to buenos aires, Argentina, you can do the follow:
Change address
Choose another item
("Este artículo no se envía a buenos aires, Argentina. Puedes hacer lo siguiente:
Cambiar dirección
Escoge un artículo diferente que se envíe a tu dirección.")
Does anyone knows why does it happen?
Did I define something wrong?
Please advice
Thank you
Elie

I think that there are 2 problems.....
1. Even though you specify worldwide you need to set up a shipping method for international shipping. It is not always a good idea for a brand new seller to ship outside of North America, especially expensive items but if you are willing to do so you should use a method such as Priority international which has delivery confirmation. If you use calculated shipping you need to pick your shipping method and then enter your package dimensions and weight unless you are using a flat rate box. Priority flat rate envelope and small flat rate box do not have delivery confirmation to Argentina. You might want to purchase insurance on your package.
2. For shipping within the US you state ‘ freight’ as a shipping method so you may also need to change the shipping method to another shipping service such as USPS. I am not certain but I seem to remember that when domestic shipping shows as freight that will also caus a problem for international buyers....it is a glitch with the shipping calculator.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
The item price is 199 usd and it includes the shipping. The shipping is done by UPS or Fedex directly from my place to the buyer's place.
Do I still need to set up a shipping method for international shipping? Even thogh it is all done by me? I'm new with it and it is my first sale but what you are suggesting sounds a little wierd, don't you think?
Could you or anyone else estimate what might be the problem?
Thanks
Elie

You always have to specify type of shipping and cost (or no cost) in order for a buyer to pay. If you want the shipping to be free for international you can specify the method, choose flat rate shipping and enter 0.00 as a cost. If you are not sure which shipping service you’ll be using then you can use the term “international shipping” as an option. You have a choice of standard, economy and expedited. But if you are using a courier rather than the postal service you really should specify the service as sending it by courier means that an international buyer will be charged an extra fee called brokerage which can be quite expensive. If a buyer does not know that ahead of time they many refuse the package or at the very least, be very unhappy.
Have you checked into the costs of sending it outside of the country? It’s common for sellers to have free shipping withn the US but most do charge for shipping to other countries because of the cost.
More in my next post.

When you specify freight as a shipping method, it is assumed that you are sending the package via a trucking company. It’s important that you specify the shipping method that you are going to use so that the buyer knows what to expect for both domestic and international. I suspect that you are not sending the item via truck to a US buyer so even if my theory is wrong you should change the shipping method.
I do think that using freight is causing the problem for your international buyer for a couple of different reasons but if you do not agree that’s fine. However it would only take a few seconds for you to change the shipping as recommended. If I was a new seller I would probably first try another sellers suggestion before assuming that it was wrong. It’s up to you.
i still do think that sending that particular item overseas is quite risky but that’s just my opinion.

Thank you for your reply.
The thing is that I have a web site where we are selling this item with shipping worldwide. We would like the item to get to them, secured and fast.
Some people don't trust paying our website, they are worried they will pay us but will never get the item. That is why we offer them the option to do it by Ebay. Which mean, to pay us by Ebay and in case the item doesn't arrive to have their money back by Ebay insurance. We defined the item as with no return option. So assume that as the item arrives and it is as it described on Ebay, they won't be able to return it.
Do you think there is a problem with this method?
Any suggestion how to make it better?
Thanks
Elie
