Post office closed

Good morning,

Yesterday my post office closed due to ice storm. What do I do so this won't affect my on time shipping?

Re: Post office closed

Get into your time machine, go back to Monday, pay attention to the weather forecast, realize that the PO might be closed if the forecast is correct, and revise your handling time to 2 or 3 days.

Re: Post office closed

eBay bails sellers out after widespread AND long-term disruptions . Short/localized problems need to be handled by the seller, by adjusting handling time as suggested.

"Where are we going today, Mr. Peabody?"

"Today, Sherman, we are going back to two days ago, so I can mail this package without eBay giving me a defect for late shipment!"

Re: Post office closed

And now eBay is giving us all down graded shipping times and we lost our discounts.  Jan 15th was MLK day and no mail service, so post office has Saturday mail sitting already. The 16th is the start of ice storms and the freeways are closed the next 3 days. Our post office had buggies full of out going mail sitting in the counter area as they had no place to put them.  No mail flew out of Houston till Friday the 19th of Januuary and had over a weeks worth of mail sitting by now (all Priority Mail goes air ).  So it takes till the next week till they get all the mail out of the system in the Houston area.  I have called eBay about this, you can google "Houston ice storms" and it shows all the freeways closed, no bread or milk in the stores, etc.

Hadn't those packages gotten their Acceptance scans?

Re: Post office closed

Our post office had so much mail that it was sitting in buggies in front of the counter.  They are very good about getting the mail out every night, that a lot of us just leave our packages on the counters as our local UPS and Fedex stores are still closed from the flooding from Harvey and have to run 7 or 8 miles to the next Fedex location for their 6 pm ground pickup. I have again contacted eBay regarding the late shipments, and ask them to Google " Houston Ice Storm 2018, Schools closed, freeways closed, airport closed" and they have stated they would remove the late shipments from our account.  We have one day shipping and try to roll everything that is sold before 2:30 that same day.  We could not do this if we had to stand in line for 30-40 to check packages at the post office, and then get in freeway traffic to travel 7-8 miles to the next Fedex location before 6 pm.
