Paypal taking from my bank acct when making Ship Labels instead of balance

Chkd my paypal acct, called them & Ebay, got no answers as to why they are taking from my bank acct instead of paypal balance when making ebay shipping labels.  Just started in the beginning of Feb 2019.  Chkd my paypal wallet & it doesn't have paypal balance as a preferred method.  Go into another area of Paypal & it states it will always take from my balance first.  Never had any issues before.  Any help would be greatly appreciated b/c talking to paypal NON customer service & Ebay is like banging your head against a brick wall.  UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would go into your settings on the top right of your Paypal account.  After clicking settings go to money, bank , and cards. Click that and make sure the top where is says preferred way to pay / online purchases says paypal balance. It might of changed somehow.

Thanks, appreciate your help!!  Checked them all, two say take from pp balance but wallet only states my bank & backup credit cards, no option to pick pp balance.  The two that say pp balance are under the Ebay & Ebay shipping labels.  I believe something changed 02/01/2019, b/c my last label on 01/30 took the monies from my PP balance.  Guess I will have to hook my credit card up as preferred, I can't afford to have an overdraft on a bank acct that is only used for Ebay/Paypal & never has a large balance in it.  Thank you again for replying!!!!!!!!

You need to change the payment method for that particular pre-approved payment agreement for eBay shipping labels, not you overall PayPal preferred payment method for purchases.

Click on "eBay Inc shipping" on the left side of the page, and click the link to the right of "Payment Method" on the right side (mine says "balance", yours will say something else indicating the bank account).

Change the eBay shipping label payment method from your bank account to PayPal balance or whatever you want and should be good to go.

Thank you so much, but unfortunately I have checked that, it does say Paypal balance.  I'm going to call paypal again tomorrow, boy should that be fun.  I am so frustrated, like I said I didn't have any problems until Feb 1st.  Again thanks for your help, really appreciate it.

Sorry that didn't work - sounds like you have a bug working.

At least one other has reported a similar problem (pulling from card instead of PP balance).

One last thing to try would be to delete that eBay shipping authorization in PayPal (same place as above, but remove it completely), and let it re-establish the next time you print a label.

Thank you again, I will try that.  I wish they would have pulled from my CC.  I left enough money in the bank to cover the last label in case this happened again, I also quickly transferred all the funds from PP to my bank same day I made the label.  Keeping my fingers crossed that nothing is wrong and I don't get an overdraft fee, this bank acct is strictly used for Ebay, keep a very low balance, just enough to keep it from closing.  I am not a big seller on Ebay, use to do okay but not anymore.  9am, when the bank opens, I guess I will find out if I was charged an overdraft fee.  OH, yippee, never in my life have I ever had an overdraft fee, my luck a 3 buck item sold on Ebay. PP issues was the one that would do it.  I think I know now, and after this past year, I was giving a sense of humor for a reason...LOL!!  I can not thank this community on Ebay enough, the members here are so kind.  Ebay & PP should ask the members to educate their so called "Customer Service".  Kindest Regards, Suzanne

Let us know how it works out with the bank, PayPal, and/or if you revoke the auth and get a chance to print a label and set up the auth again.

Hi everyone, well I finally sold something & made a label a few minutes ago.  I was able to change my secondary payment method to my credit card on file a week ago in my paypal.  Primary states paypal balance, secondary is CC, well PP did it again, they took from the secondary.  But I'm fine w/that b/c it was my Cc & I don't have to worry about overdraft if my balance in my Bank Account isn't enough to cover the label.  I am thinking that PP might figure this problem out now b/c they are going to be charged the CC fees.  Checked in several different spots in PP & they all state primary as the PP balance.  Still baffled as to why this is occurring, talking to Paypal customer service is absolutely pointless!!  Tried a couple weeks ago again w/PP CS, nearly 2 hrs later on the phone, had no resolution.  Guess I will have to wait until I sell something else to see what happens next time,,,,,, that should be a long wait...LOL!!  My kindest regards & thanks to this community AGAIN!!!  Suzanne

On the paypal label creation screen, there is a drop down to select payment method. It is right above the "confirm and pay" button. It should default to your primary method, but since it is not you can change prior to purchasing a label each time.
