Parcel form Canada to Germany was sent to Glendale Heights; what about Erlanger?!

Hello,

i bought an item from a seller in Toronto. I paid via Credit Card, the seller sent the item with ebay GSP. The item should have arrived in Germany on August 25th.

The item arrived at Glendale Heights, Illinois on August, 15th. 

That's it. I' m in contact with the seller, we're both wondering, why the delivery doesn't continue.

I wondered about the way of the parcel, because parcel to Europe usually go through the eBay hub in Erlanger, Kentucky.

I called the german eBay customer service and they told me, that a lot of parcels, which go through Glendale Heights, are lost.

I am a little bit confused. What's the problem ? And what about the hub in Erlanger? I've never had any delivery problemas with parcels from North America - until now.

Can you help me?

GSP is ending, or has ended.

Replaced by eBay International Shipping (EIS)

Shipping hubs are Glendale Heights, Illinois ,and one recently opened in California.

Some have posted that the process seems to be a bit slower, but have read little about lost items.

Your seller should be aware of the change from the GSP to EIS, but apparently is not.

First of all, the Global Shipping Program (GSP) has been all but discontinued on eBay.com, although it’s still running on eBay UK.

It has been replaced by a similar program that’s prosaically named “eBay International Shipping” (eIS).  One of the hubs for eIS is in Glendale Heights, just outside of Chicago.

I’ve been reading a lot of posts from buyers believing that their item has stopped moving or gotten lost at the eIS hub.  I’ve purchased only one item that was forwarded through eIS and it arrived at my location in western Canada within the estimated delivery timeframe stated on the listing page.  I didn’t bother checking the tracking on it until it was due to be delivered because I feel that my items will either arrive or they won’t and it doesn’t make any difference to where and when my items were last scanned.  Tracking gives buyers an illusion of control over the shipment that they don’t have.

When I checked the tracking for my item after having received it, it was a bit of a mess and there was a nine day gap where my item showed no tracking scans.  And yet I still received my item.

As eIS can be a bit slow, I would wait until Monday or Tuesday before going through the process of getting a refund through the program.  In the meantime, you might want to try using the “EEUS” tracking code to track the item through a third party tracking site (I recommend Parcelsapp) to see if there is any scan information that’s not been transmitted to eBay.

What is the item in question, anyway?  eIS has more restrictions on what can be forwarded internationally than the GSP did.  There may be a problem with the item itself.

Postscript: I’m intrigued that this item is being shipped from Toronto.  Is the seller located in the US?  My understanding is that eIS currently isn’t available to Canadian eBay users like myself.

The item is just a wall clock. Nothing dangerous, no problems with the payment. I'm in contact with the seller from Toronto and he is also wondering.

I bought it on August, 3rd, it was shipped by the seller and the last thing i know is, that it was 

"Delivered, Left with Individual

GLENDALE HEIGHTS, IL 60139 

August 15, 2023, 2:51 pm "

The delivery date was August, 25th.

I have never had any problems with orders from North America before. However, these were all processed via Erlanger, Kentucky. After a maximum of 3 weeks I received every order.

I am also aware that parcels sometimes sit a little longer in a hub and the tracking is only visible again once the parcel has arrived in Europe.

"Acceptance

I bought via ebay.com, paid with credit card and ebay changed the currency from € to US $.

eIS appears to be very squeamish about handling items that contain batteries, particularly lithium-ion ones.  If there was a battery in the clock, that could have dead-ended the shipment.

We don't really need the USPS tracking information at this point.  We know that USPS delivered the clock to the eIS shipping hub in Illinois.  What we're trying to determine at this point is if it was handed off to another carrier once it reached Illinois.  Is there another tracking number that starts with "EEUS" or something similar on your order details page?  (Sorry, I have no idea what eBay Germany would call that page.)  If there is, try using that tracking number on the Parcelsapp website.

Yes.  It's already been noted in this thread that the new eBay International Shipping service based in Illinois is doing the job that the old Global Shipping Program in Kentucky did.  That's why I'm asking if you have been given another tracking number starting with "EEUS" or something similar, as that's the tracking number issued by eIS.

So far I have not received a new tracking number with "EEUS". I'll just have to be patient and wait.

Just to make sure we're on the same track, @kickflip1977, are you looking at a page similar to this one?

If there's no "EEUS" tracking number on your order details page, the last thing I can suggest is that you go to Parcelsapp and enter the USPS tracking number for the shipment to Illinois and see if there's information there that links it to the shipment that's supposed to follow that one.  

You say the last estimated date of delivery has past.  I'd give it one more week at the very most before filing a case for a "not received" item.

Once the package arrives at the EIS hub in Glendale Heights it can take 2-3 weeks for it to be processed, inspected, customs label generated and shipped out to the foreign country. It has only been 12 days since arriving there so you should see some movement hopefully soon.

My order details look like yours, the shipping status is on "shipped"  (Paid  Aug 3, shipped Aug 3, not yet delivered), and the tracking number is the USPS tracking number. Parcelsapp with the same status. I think i just have to be patient.

My first few eis I got nervous because no tracking movement once it got to the hub.

But they have all worked out.

If your delivery date hasn't passed, I'd just sit tight.
