Hi, I received an offer on an item I was watching. I immediately paid for it in full, which included the shipping rate that the seller had included with their listing. Yesterday, however, the seller emailed me and said that the shipping to my address is higher than the amount the seller had included in the listing. I am not sure how to respond; I already paid for the listing, and I feel that any extra shipping cost at this point is the seller's responsibility. I can't help that the postage rate is higher.
From the tone of the email, it sounds as though the seller is trying to get me to offer to pay for the extra shipping. I don't want the seller to cancel the order, but I am worried that if I say that I already paid for the order, that they might be spiteful and cancel. What do I do?

Sellers aren't allowed to add extra charges to a transaction. You might want to message your seller that information.
For instance: Dear Seller: Since eBay rules do not allow any further charges to be added after a listing/auction has ended, I will be looking forward to receiving my purchase for the amount that's already been paid.
If you want, you can add: If this cannot be done, then I will be expecting you to cancel and to refund my payment promptly.
Yours cordially,
Cancelling by the seller, BTW, will not mean he is being spiteful, just means he did not plan ahead.

Nothing you can/should do except tell the seller:
"Shipping price was already shown on the listing; any discrepancy is something you, as the seller, would have to deal with/pay the difference- all per ebay rules.
But, you have a decide yourself if you are willing to pay the price or let the item go as most sellers (that do this, which means they have no clue how selling works) will probably cancel.

The shipping rate from USA to Canada can be rather high depending on the package. I had that problem when I shipped a package to Canada.
I basically shipped the package and didn't make much of a profit. And it needed a customs form. It was something that was so light the size of a penny. I made the mistake of using a bubble envelope. I didn't ask for more money. If your seller is asking for a few cents I would send it. But something that I could have mailed for $1.40 cost me $15.00 instead due to using a bubble envelope. I couldn't possible ask the buyer to send that much more. I ate the shipping and got positive feedback. As a seller we do make mistakes and have to deal with our mistakes.

Mistakes and miscalculations happen all of the time. You are not required to pay anymore for the item as mentioned by others already. The seller can cancel the item for whatever reason (not saying that is valid) but if you do not ask for the cancellation, the seller usually will receive a defect on their Ebay account.
How much was the item (total sale) and what are they asking additionally (extra shipping charge) for you to pay?

If you tell the seller he can ship or cancel, he is allowed to cancel with no penalty.
You will be able to leave feedback.

You are in Canada. Did the seller send you an invoice? Was the shipping to Canada posted or did you pay for US shipping. It's possible that the seller wants to use priority mail because he/she needs tracking. That costs a lot more. You can pay it or you can cancel. I would NOT harm that seller with a bad review. Do NOT follow that advice. Most sellers on Ebay are very hard workers and don't get too many foreign bidders.
