Hello,
I did not have luck searching the forums for an answer to this, but here is the situation: I had a customer who ordered an item, but stated that they waited too long to pick it up where it was being held and it was then sent back to me. Unfortunately, the post office made me pay return shipping upon receiving it. The buyer still wants the product and stated he will pay for shipping back out, but I do not know how to charge him for it in the ebay system without going through a refund process and relisting the item. Surely, there must an easier way? Thank you for any assistance.

@tastemaker1978 You have some two weeks after a transaction where you can ask for the buyer's email address and it's allowed. With that you can send them a PayPal invoice for the amount to ship it a second time. You can also purchase your own label on Pirateship.com, free to create an account on there. Just a few steps but actually quite easy to do this. Best of luck to you....

Back in the day, you could send a paypal invoice in this situation.

Nothing prevents you from doing it now. It's still sound advice, just the extra step of getting their paypal address.

you have already paid shipping round trip. and you have lost money
the correct thing to do is to put it back up as a listing. I woud even go so far as to increase the shipping
this buyer is costing you time and money and you should be made whole for it
if I could, I would deduct some from the refund you need to make. I would do it for sure if you can
after all the buyer did refuse the item and is no longer covered

Thank you for the reply. The buyer is in the military and since USPS held the item for whatever their limit is, it has been more than two weeks since the transaction. Can I not still ask for his email address and go the Paypal route or does it have to be linked somehow with ebay? I do have a pirateship account, so that's no problem.

You can always ask, sometimes the bots will stop a message asking for an email address, but certainly give it a shot. You will make your buyer very happy, and they may come back for another purchase from you. I think you are doing the correct thing here.....

Be sure to bill them for the return shipping AND the shipping going from you to them.
It doesn't have to go through eBay. At this point you are doing this only out of a courtesy, the MBG has been satisfied with the delivery attempt.

Agreed. Normally, I would do this, but it was a $3.49 shipping fee, so not the end of the world. I sold the item for a good price and not a big deal to resend as long as he's willing to foot the bill for one more round.
