I shipped a small box under 1 lb, 2 salt and pepper shakers. It was scanned last in St Paul on Dec 31, and then on Jan 1,2,3,4, it says "In transit to next facility, arriving on time". It is going to Oklahoma. It has not been scanned since Jan 4th anywhere. My label was very good, I use a thermal 4x6 printer. Any thoughts on this? TY

Check your estimated delivery date. One day after then you as a seller have to worry cause the buyer can file a not received case. Right now I wouldn't worry about it. It's still in transit.

That "In transit..." note isn't a scan, it's just a placeholder when a package hasn't gotten a scan in 24 hours, perhaps as reassurance that they haven't forgotten about your package. Sometimes the smaller packages get stuck in equipment or overlooked and left in the bottom of a container. USPS has a system for prompting searches for packages, so you might try that. I hope your buyer is patient. Worst case, you have insurance coverage for your lost package but let's hope it doesn't come to that.
Here's some info from USPS about how they deal with missing mail.

"not scanned since Jan 4th'...wouldn't be surprised a lot of packages have issues during the snow, black ice and below normal temperatures in the Midwest...plus right after the holidays.
Not sure anyone worked on December 31 or January 1 besides you...no pun intended.
It's not lost...yet

Really? I'm in Minnesota, and we have not had one bit of snow or ice all winter. It's the least I've seen in my 60 years. Where between here and Oklahoma is there all this ice in the last 9 days?

Surely you don't think our packages take a direct route to their destinations? I feel sure dejoy probably felt the package needed to take a trip east before being rerouted. I had one recently take a trip to Puerto Rico for no apparent reason, but it eventually was delivered. Those place holder notations happen all the time on my packages. The best advice I can offer is not to look.

Package finally arrived to my buyer today! Not scanned between Dec 31 and yesterday! 9 days with no scans! I was sure they lost it.

Glad to hear the package arrived!
Happy New Year!
